BEFORE DARK is DEJIKI.COM’s original series documenting construction updates at Universal Studios Singapore for its Halloween Horror Nights event.
Judgement Day Scaremony stage
Connected to the the HHN11 slogan, ‘Evil is Knocking’, the ‘Judgement Day’ Scaremony Stage for HHN11 is designed to feature several doors, each one linked to a certain haunted house and scare zone. The three LED screens could also become ‘virtual doors’. For now, can you recognise the four physical ones?
The structure of the stage suggests that there will be a performer at the upper level, with the rest appearing at the lower tiers, and on the street. Fire effects may also return to the show, after years of absence.
HHN11 Haunted Houses
Jurassic Park backstage area will be home to Rebirth of the Matriarch and its storied Peranakan mansion, while your journey to DIYU: Descent Into Hell will start at Soundstage 28. Get a first look inside these two original houses in my sneak preview article.
Meet the Pied Piper and his rat swarms in Grimm Encounters – this house is being built at the Revenge of the Mummy outdoor queue.
The world’s first and only HHN adaptation of Netflix’s All of Us Are Dead will be staged at the breezeway beside Soundstage 28, the same site where Stranger Things once stood back in 2018, and will also share a similar mega billboard design for the house facade.
The Weeknd: After Hours Til Dawn Nightmare is being built at the Waterworld queue – with a city skyline peeking out of the hoardings. This is also another exclusive house for Singapore, featuring 5 new rooms based on the ‘Dawn FM’ album. With that, this is more like a new production, and should differ from The Weeknd: After Hours Nightmare house seen at HHN 2022 events in Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Florida.
It looks like for the first time in a decade, this haunted house will reverse the direction of all past houses and start from the side furthest from the Waterworld amphitheatre. That also suggests that the queue for this house might have to start somewhere else too.

And with all these information plus experiencing the first HHN11 preview, here’s my unofficial park map for Halloween Horror Nights 11:
The Cursed Kiramam scare zone
The Cursed Kiramam is the first village-style scare zone with an Indian theme, after the ones based on Chinese and Malay folklore.
The story goes: Villagers suffer from constant torment due to the Curse, with their only means to survive is by appeasing the gods with Agni, the sacrificial bride.
At first look, it appears that there have been no progress inside Jurassic Park.
Everything was tucked out of sight from most of the attractions, into an area close to the splash zone of Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure.
Surprisingly, these props were left in plain sight, offering us a rare look before things get covered up.
There is also a stage with two gigantic tusks, likely for a ritual, or perhaps a place where Agni will roam at.
The Hacker scare zone
Over at New York zone, guests can explore game-like environments in The Hacker, a futuristic scare zone.
At this time, there are only a handful of set pieces on the streets of New York, some filled with screens that would display media.
Apart from showing scenes of games, some parts will actually become ‘real’, such as this sci-fi themed set.
For now, this dual-sided mirror wall looks like a popular spot for photos.
The stage at the New York Library has towering structures filled with mirrors and screens, and it also likely where The Hacker herself – virtual or physical – would appear.
Dead Man’s Wharf scare zone
Be careful when you explore Dead Man’s Wharf, as you will meet Madame Dragon and her crew of merciless pirates during HHN11.
We don’t always get a scare zone in this part of the park every year, with the space reserved for laser tag experiences in 2017 and 2022, or left unused at some events.
The Sting Alley setup appears to be a more well-kept before guests are pushed into the unruly spaces near the lagoon.
For now, the NY harbor area is decorated with nautical props, a prominent one being this ship’s wheel.
It’s not clear how the scare zone will operate. In the past, the flow was typically controlled – pulsing small groups into the zone, with a single direction to walk through. If it is single direction, then I think my photos might be showing the flow in reverse.
Over at the ‘black market’ section, you might see ‘transformed’ victims for sale, or even get your fortune told.

This is my 10th year coming down to Singapore from KL for HHN since attending my first one for HHN3 in 2013. Flying down again this year. Any chance for an invite to a preview event or USS giving me an upgrade or something?

When would you say is the peak timing of the event? From the opening hours on a peak day ^^ Thank you!
Usually the houses wait time will peak about 1-2 hours after the opening, and then start fluctuating depending on the situation. On some crowded nights the high wait time will sustain until the last 1 to 1.5 hours of the event.
