The Killustrator unveils his latest work at a secretive Halloween Horror Nights Auction, which causes shocking revelations at Universal Studios Singapore’s Halloween Horror Nights 10.
Opening Scaremony – Overview and Thoughts
Taking place at the Hollywood stage, this year’s Opening Scaremony puts you as a silent observer in a secretive auction, where artefacts from past Halloween Horror Nights events are being sold. A last minute addition, Lot 666, makes its mysterious reveal, but that isn’t the most shocking part of the show. In The Silenced Auction, you will see the true face (and body) of the Killustrator, and in Singapore’s HHN tradition, the show climaxes with a dramatic reveal of this year’s icons.
I quite enjoyed this Opening Scaremony – the pacing is just right, and how the Killustrator reveals himself directly addresses the story of the Killustrator and his haunted house (Killustrator: The Final Chapter), something that has not been done for a long time. Most Opening Scaremony shows in the past have been mostly about a specific event or calamity that leads to a bombastic reveal of iconic characters, so it’s great that the creatives have tried something that feels more integrated, which results in a polished experience for the audience to enjoy.

The Silenced Auction – HHN10 Opening Scaremony
All eyes are on the Hollywood Stage as “This is Halloween” plays in the background. A montage of past 9 Halloween Horror Nights events are screened, reminding you of the horrors that have haunted the park in the last decade. The footage sometimes glitches, revealing a hooded figure with a skeletal grimace.
The music intensifies, and the montage speeds up, ultimately stopping at Halloween Horror Nights 10. The scene is set, and you are transported to the secretive Halloween Horror Nights Auction, where Father Time’s Scythe is being sold for an eye-watering 2.5 million dollars.
Auctioneer: Sold! To the lady with the beautiful silver mask. Congratulations, the Scythe of Father Time truly is an exquisite piece, used to control and manipulate time. This item will make a remarkable addition to your collection.
Our next lot, Number 665, is the murderous singing sensation herself, Raven
The Leader of the Slit Face Girls, Raven, is led on stage. Defenseless and alone, she struggles as the Auction Assistant grips the chains keeping the star bound.
Auctioneer: Part of the G-Pop Group, the Slit Face Girls, Raven famously slaughtered her own security guard, live on this stage.
Oh I still got a little fight in you, huh?
So, shall we start the bidding at 5 million? Excellent! Do I hear 5.5? 6 million! The bid is now at 6 million. Do we have any takers? Excellent, the bid lies with you, Sir. Do I hear…?
Bidder: TEN MILLION!
Auctioneer: Wow! 10 Million, a generous bid indeed, do we have any counter offers? All right then, at 10 million – selling, fair warning.
Going once, going twice, SOLD! to the gentleman in blue. Congratulations Sir, she really is… one of a kind.
Raven is taken off stage, while the Auction Assistant brings in the next Lot, which is covered. The bidders appear intrigued.
Auctioneer: Now, for our next lot we have something that I’m sure will intrigue a number of our esteemed members here this evening
It was a last minute entry and not even I know what is under here, so before we start the bidding, let’s take a look at this mystery piece, Ladies and Gentlemen, may I present lot Number 666…
The curtains are drawn to reveal a grotesque illustration in a comic book style. The artwork is in black and white, with blood stains glistening in the light. It is signed with a giant, stylised ‘K’ in the middle. Unbeknownst to the Auctioneer and Bidders, the artwork depicts their fate – suffering a violent and bloody death.
Auctioneer: Well it certainly is… unique.
Bidders: What is the meaning of this? This is outrageous, you’re wasting our time! Is this some kind of joke?
Offended at the item on display, the Bidders start to walk around, voicing their anger.
Auctioneer: A joke? Why yes yes, so of course it’s a joke… Look at it who would ever pay for something as sorry as this! I don’t even think you could call it art hah! Quite right, it’s pitiful! Worthless!
Bidder: I’m inspired!
Auctioneer: All right, all right that’s enough hilarity for one night. Let’s all take our seats so we can move on to some items of real value.
As all other bidders take their seats, a silent figure stands. He approaches the Auctioneer, hulking over all at the auction.
Auctioneer: Once again, please return to your seat, sir. Sir, don’t make me ask you again.
???: You find my work pathetic?
The hooded figure speaks in a menacing voice. He grabs the Auctioneer by his collar.
Auctioneer: Your… work?
The man grabs the Auctioneer’s gavel, and stabs the Auctioneer’s throat through his golden mask.
???: Does that make it pathetic now?
Bidders: What’re you doing? Help!!
As the other bidders run away, one man tries to stop the assailant.
Bidder: Get away from him, you monster!
The hooded man slices the throat of the bidder – thereby silencing all at the auction.
The man takes off his jacket, revealing his intimidating physique. Red and Black ink runs all over his body, but distinctively is a large, bloody scar on his back – resembling the stylised ‘K’ on the painting.
???: I am.. the Killustrator
Killustrator: For years I watched on from the shadows, using my work to escape into a world that accepts me, that wants me, that needs… me.
A world where the demons that lie within roam free, feeding on the fear and pain that I suppressed for too long.
The Killustrator paints a giant canvas, which slowly comes to life…
Killustrator: Now, the time has come to rip my work from the page and let it bleed into your world, watch the stories I have drawn come to life. Stories where fear holds, and weakness is met with pain…. (laughs) and death…
Killustrator: There is no way to hide from the creatures that I have created. They hunger for your fear, there is no escaping, the world you know is gone.
YOUR FATE IS MINE!!
The canvas breaks, suddenly revealing a fiery stage. Standing with the Killustrator are the terrifying icons of Halloween Horror Nights 10.

The Killustrator taunts you, as the park is now overrun with his evil creations. A familiar song (Power Glove by Knife Party) can be heard as your heart pounds.
Welcome to Halloween Horror Nights 10!
What happens after the Opening Scaremony?
After the Opening Scaremony concludes, the VIP section on Hollywood street will be open, and RIP Tour guests will be escorted out of the area. Shortly after that, the second rope drop will release regular park guests from their viewing area.
Park guests will be directed towards Far Far Away, where the nearest HHN attractions are: Monsters & Manifestations (Special Experience), Operation: Dead Force (Haunted House), and The Hunt for Pontianak (Scare Zone).
After some of the crowd has cleared, the rope towards New York zone will drop, allowing guests to head to Killustrator: The Final Chapter (Haunted House) or Dark Zodiac (Scare Zone) if they wish.
What happens at the stage after the icons leave?
The street level of the stage at Hollywood will remain open for guests to take photos with the fiery HHN backdrop. There will be no Meet and Greets at the stage.

I have tickets for the laser tag thing, how do I get there if they direct us towards the back leh
You can wait at the rope in front of Pantages Hollywood Theater, and let the crew know that you have an Escape The Breakout experience scheduled at 8PM. Anyway, this diversion only lasts a few minutes.
what time is the opening scaremony?
The show will start at around 7:25PM.
Hi Dejiki. I am visiting as a normal guest without tour this Saturday, 15 October. What time should I arrive at the park if I want to be at the front for a clear view of the Opening Scaremony? Also, would you recommend going straight to Far Far Away or to wait for the rope towards New York to drop? Thank you in advance!
The front section is only open for RIP Tour guests.
There is no real need to wait for the rope towards New York to drop. The Killustrator house had consistently shorter wait time for the first 2 weekends. You may wish to follow the park’s intentional diversion and go to Operation: Dead Force first, and then Hospitality of Horror right after.
