Unmask the secrets of the Killuminati vampire cult at Universal Studios Singapore’s Halloween Horror Night 8.

Overview and Thoughts
This haunted house featuring Chinese vampires is the talk of the town for many reasons. Firstly, the environments are rather unusual and the key scenes are “upsized”: bringing us to a street in Hong Kong, a ritual chamber, a nightclub, and then a really tall cave. Second would be the many stunts and effects: apart from the fantastic flying vampires, there are mirror rooms with reflection tricks, a tunnel that (gently) collapses, and extensive use of fog effects towards the end. And of course, with the pre-show, branching paths and secret rooms, it’s clear that Killuminati must not be missed!
With so many Universal Studios Singapore ‘firsts’, Killuminati is an ambitious house. In terms of interactivity, the first scene has the Red Pole character splitting groups up and “loading” them into two sides of the pre-show scene, where guests can feel as if they’re part of the birthing ritual ceremony and initiation into the cult. Thereafter, the next real interactive elements lie waiting in the defector’s secret rooms. These extra scenes are a nice touch but they don’t make an impact to the house’s storyline, unlike the other HHN houses I’ve been to in Japan last year, where the interactive moment sets off an intense chain of events culminating into a fulfilling finale.
Killuminati’s finale has made the story quite confusing for some. Perhaps another issue I had with this house is that the dramatic structure is quite wonky – it felt like all excitement fizzed out in the cave scenes, after many short bursts of wow moments in the earlier half.
Depending on the crowds and your luck, a lot of these new experiences could be missed. If the house is too crowded (it often is), then there is little hope in getting in. After all, the ‘secret rooms’ are meant to be secret and should only safely accommodate 2-3 people. It has also not stopped some people from revisiting the house over and over just to force their way into the secret rooms. I heard that some stubborn people have been broken into backstage (accidentally… or not). Perhaps it is time for Singapore to rethink how the flow of guests should be managed outside and within the houses – there are methods used in Universal Studios Japan that have proven effective.
Welcome to Hong Kong.
A tough guy stands in the middle of the street. He scans all visitors and directs them to either the left or right paths. Don’t ask questions. Don’t make trouble. Just follow the Red Pole‘s orders.
Through the back alleys, a nondescript door opens up into a tall, dark chamber.
Lu Xi Fa welcomes all the new recruits. He gestures everyone to step closer, and unveils the secret of immortality. A distant gong rings…
It is done.
The corpse starts to convulse, and a young bat bursts out.
Lu Xi Fa soars into the air as swarms of bats suddenly appear. The gangsters demands that all must leave the ritual chamber immediately.
From this point, the story can diverge into 3 paths.
BRANCHING STORY MOMENT
If you are on the Left way, you will find safe(r) passage into the Killuminati’s inner circle.
Of course, there are victims along the way, begging for a way out.
BRANCHING STORY MOMENT
If you are on the Right way, you will discover the true fate of those who were not accepted into the cult.
Their blood is extracted for the vampires.
SECRET STORY MOMENT
If you are on the Right way and the Defectors choose you…
You will then be given a sticker, a mark that you have aligned with the Defectors, and the codeword Blood and Sand. Your adventure continues in the next room in a totally different way – you are going on stage!
BRANCHING STORY MERGE
All three paths merge in the Great Hall, an expansive scene resembling a nightclub.
There is much to take in: The loud music pulsing, the strange exotic food and drinks being served, an arresting dancer on stage.. and even a high-flying vampire swinging in the air.
Take a break from the dance floor and meet Lu Xi Fa in his private room…
where a show is taking place.
A door opens into a mirror chamber, where you will feel the rush of joining the cult.
It then transports you into a gloomy cave, where heads are stored in massive rows of niches.
The only way forward is through pitch-dark cave tunnels…
..inhabited by giant bats.
Finally, you meet Lu Xi Fa in his true form, as a giant, demonic bat.
Say goodbye to him and quickly leave… while you still can.
SECRET STORY MOMENT
If you have the sticker from the Defectors and aligned with them, you may be pulled away into the second secret room, where another Defector will give you an item to defeat Lu Xi Fa.
Quickly use your Garlic Spray here, to bring down Lu Xi Fa and the Killuminati cult.

Was this house held in Soundstage 28, like Death Mall last year? I would like to put the house’s location on the wiki (You can double check the page here: https;//halloweenhorrornights.wikia.com/wiki/Halloween_Horror_Nights_8_%28Singapore%29 ). It’s just that this house was the only one that I couldn’t work out the location of, based on your excellent Before Dark Series and August park updates which mentioned the specific areas of house construction (Thank you!)
