The gateway to a Japanese-inspired underworld is gradually revealed as we dive into The Realm of Yokai, in the second part of Halloween Horror Nights 13: BEFORE DARK.

HHN13 Scare zones update

The Realm of Yokai is a Japanese-inspired scare zone at Universal Studios Singapore’s Jurassic Park. With about a month to opening night, the arch to the scare zone has already arrived. The Torii gate is filled with several black panels that should be backlit at night – faces of several Japanese spirits and demons. Can you recognise them?

Here’s an edit of how the middle panel could look like with the scare zone logo.

The gate is also adorned with lanterns, each with different haunting words that can be translated to “fear”, “scary”, “hell” and more.

Some of the props seen in Before Dark Part 1 were combined or moveed. Over here, it seemed like a spot where kappa, an aquatic yokai, may dwell.

Other props and walls had shifted positions, making way for new things to be added – such as this tower of scary faces, with several hanging umbrellas, and another cluster on rocks – which might be for an area haunted by the karakasa or kasa-obake – the umbrella yokai.

Who knows, we might see things return from The Haunting of Oiwa (2018) and Spirit Dolls (2019) haunted houses in The Realm of Yokai.

On the other side, I saw some spooky shoji doors, along with parts of a Japanese-styled bridge.

And now let’s leave the world of the undead and head to the funfair in town.

The FEARground at New York zone has more decor hanging above, completing additions throughout the main street. The stage is also taking shape.

This is where a twisted show, Dare or Die Live! will take place.

You can already imagine this zone’s iconic characters take the stage during Horror Nights.

In the day, this stage is likely used for Day-time Halloween Meet and Greets like last year’s, and possibly shows.

Fanta is a partner for this scare zone, so it’s likely that there will be a bar selling Fanta drinks somewhere. Last year, there was a Twisted Bar for Tiger Soju, the beverage partner for Nether-Land (2024) scare zone.

Just recently, a partnership between Fanta, Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions was announced.

The partnership features horror icons Chucky, Freddy Fazbear from Five Nights at Freddy’s, The Grabber from The Black Phone, and Michael Myers from the Halloween franchise. These four icons will grace the limited-edition Halloween Collection of Fanta’s classic flavours, with the addition of a special “Chucky’s Punch” flavour.

Who knows, we might all be able to enjoy these at Singapore’s Halloween Horror Nights!

HHN13 Haunted Houses update

Singapore’s Most Haunted: Build To Horror is looking even more foreboding, with the dilapidated hoardings extending out of Block 13A Jalan Tiga Belas.

Here’s a closer look at the cursed housing block. Rumour has it that the Demonic Sinseh has been wandering around Singapore…

Over at Jurassic Park, the great Quetzalcoatlus dinosaur has moved.

It has made way for the future queue entrance to Death Whisperer, this year’s IP house based on the blockbuster ‘Tee Yod’ thai horror films.

Singapore Halloween Horror Nights 2025 merchandise

While it’s still quite early for 2025 Halloween Horror Nights merchandise to drop in Singapore, you can still buy last year’s sipper cup (with lanyard cup holder) for S$25.

Over at the UNIVRS store, the Universal Monsters Alliance blind box has recently arrived. Get a box at S$18 each.

This is an officially licensed POP MART product, with 9 figurines – with characters shown above. There is also the secret character, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde (1:108 ratio for secret pull).

I also spotted another blind box collection – this one’s based on Shrek, and it’s just so adorable!

While also not Halloween related: Universal Studios Singapore is running the ‘Minion Mystery Souvenir Promotion’ until 31 August 2025. This package bundles a park ticket with a Mystery Souvenir voucher that can be redeemed at Minion Mart. There’s even a special area set up for it.
