Halloween Horror Nights 4 – Before Dark 2

We are back at Universal Studios Singapore for another look at the park’s changes for Halloween Horror Nights 4. Check out some of the new scary and unsettling props in this issue of Before Dark.
Part One | Part Two | Part Three | MATI CAMP | Part Four
◂ Minister of Evil ▸

The stage is set for the The Minister of Evil. Every night of HHN4 will be graced by the presence of Jonah Goodwill, leader of the new world. To mark the rule of demons over the park, The Minister will make a grand entrance at the Opening Scaremony here.

Peek at the back of the stage, which looks like it is hiding some surprises. Who knows what might happen at the Opening Scaremony? 😉
◂ Canyon of the Cursed ▸
The canyon’s entrance archway is finally up. Even for a simple arch, there are plenty of details. Let’s have a look:
The base structure might be the same (cloth-wrapped steel frame), but the logs, with more props attached, give this year’s arch some of that wild west character. Another difference: The frame is positioned closer to Sci-Fi City this time. The statues of the Anubis guardians no longer block the arch.
Can you spot the two factions at war in the banner artwork?
Remember last year’s tattered canopy at the Convention of Curses?
It is back, but draped along the area in front of Revenge of the Mummy.
During Halloween season, there is only one angle to capture the Temple building, which is to stand on the left of the facade. Photographers, take note please.

The set pieces for this scare zones have yet to arrive from the wild west. For now, this majestic sculpture, a giant head of a Native American Indian, looks on from the edge of the scarezone.
◂ Bogeyman ▸
After reading last week’s update, you might think that there was already enough stuff in this scarezone.
Apparently it was not nearly enough. Anyway, this entrance (facing Sci-Fi City) also has an archway.
Behind the arch: A few basketball hoops, attached to a backing board that oddly, is in the shape of Singapore Island. I wonder which production that came from.

This scarezone, with all its knickknacks and bric-à-brac, is looking more like an re-imagination of last year’s haunted house, House No. 13: POSSESSIONS.
This looks like a place to relive childhood memories.

The haunting ones, only.
That.. is quite disturbing. Even in broad daylight.
Probably the most terrifying section of this scarezone.
Joining the cramped alley of cupboards and closets: hanging clothes. This looks like the return of that infamous (and very unsettling) wardrobe scene from the Vengeance of the Matriarch haunted house back at Halloween Horror Nights (2011).
There’s also this section of the floor that’s oddly.. bouncy.
◂ Demoncracy ▸
The fragments of Statue of Liberty are now popular scenic photo spots in USS. The Minister of Evil is not amused by such blatant lack of respect for finely crafted destruction, but I’m sure the Minister’s press secretary appreciates the publicity.

More broken buildings are now on the street, along with this creepy broken statue (likely a Weeping Angel):

And there are some larger props in the form of sloped asphalt. Probably pieces of the earth-shattering crack across the street.

More vehicles and even a subway train have joined fray to be part of the most chaotic city on Earth.
◂ Scary Tales ▸
Scary Tales is receiving the same treatment as the Forbidden Forest last year, starting with this sign.
For now, the jungle of Jurassic Park is still unaffected by Halloween Horror Nights. Enjoy the peace and quiet while it lasts!
◂ The Haunted Houses ▸
Signage for the Haunted Houses are now up:
The L.A.B. – like last year’s Possessions haunted house, the entrance would be through the scarezone at Jurassic Park (Scary Tales this year).

Jack’s 3-Dementia – looking very dimensional indeed.
This is my favourite sign so far. Colourful, twisted. If only HHN has some sort of horror carnival – not a haunted house or scarezone, but a fair with games and stuff. That would be fun.
Now then, since you’ve made it through this photo report… What are your thoughts on this year’s park decorations for Halloween Horror Nights 4?
Stay tuned for the next BEFORE DARK…

Halloween Horror Nights – The Archives

Hey Dejiki 😀
Nice to meet you today! Thanks for the exploration tip just now for the BOGEYMAN area – Some of the areas are indeed accessible! 😀 I have took many photos of the props there 😀
Well, I have to admit, today’s new stage show was a little bit disappointed because not much interaction from the mascots haha! Probably the new launch was a little unstable right now cause too many park guests are queuing up for the photo taking sessions that they have to close the queue line immediately! Guess I should wait for that stage show to stabilize first! 😀
Nevertheless, I have took some great photos with Puss In Boots and Kitty Softpaws, and I had some Madagascar friends keeping me company throughout the day – Especially King Julien who always loves to screw me up during photo taking 😀 – (Virtually speaking). Well, this is the type of mascot actor I am looking for – Interacting with park guests! 😀
Looking forward for tomorrow’s journey – Same rides, same shows, same mascots! 😀
