USS Halloween Horror Nights 13 Update: Haunted houses and scare zones setup, HHN13 event map

Universal Studios Singapore is preparing Halloween Horror Nights 13, with first touches of fear around the park. Get your first look of the ongoing works in DEJIKI.COM’s original HHN13 Before Dark series!

Based on original research documented in this article, here are the various locations of the haunted houses and scare zones around the park. Read on to find out more.

HHN13 Haunted Houses

The cursed housing block at Jalan Tiga Belas has emerged at the Waterworld Queue, confirming the location of Singapore’s Most Haunted: Build to Horror. While all 4 haunted houses this year are unique to Singapore, this is the only “original” concept not based on existing horror IP, and is also the only one with a local theme.

Although some might say this horror IP is already all around us, being so close to home. Remember the Siloso Gateway Block 50 (2015) HDB estate?

And if you look closely… you can already see shadowy figures in the windows.

The new Stranger Things haunted house appears to be taking shape at the usual venue for Netflix haunted houses, including the original Stranger Things (2018), All of Us Are Dead (2023), and Sweet Home (2024). If you are a die-hard fan of the series, you can already see some distinctive elements from the show in this photo.

Over at Jurassic Park, you can see parts of a house peeking out. The vertical wood panels resembles Yak and Yam’s family home in the Death Whisperer Thai horror film series. Looks like our experience in this haunted house will start off exploring the farm house, before leading us deeper around the village. Swamps and wheatfields, along with the Witch’s Hut are confirmed to be part of this experience (along with a horrifying encounter with the possessed Chauy), and we’ll definitely meet the Black Spirit and witness her relentless evil.

Building the Death Whisperer haunted house at this part of the park also “fits in” with the entities lingering at this area as well. Considerations, beyond the physical realm.

For now, the Quetzalcoatlus from Jurassic World: Rebirth guard the haunted house’s queue entrance.

And that leaves The Unruly Immortals at Soundstage 28, which has been the home to two Chinese-themed stories, DIYU: Descent Into Hell (2023), and Cursed Scrolls: Dynasty of Darkness (2024).

HHN13 Show and Immersive Bar

The HHN13 line-up has not be fully revealed, with details on the third live show and immersive bar experience yet to be announced.

Based on the first two HHN13 announcements, it is likely that these two event highlights are tied to IP – with US IP being highly probable as the previous announcement already focused on Asian horror.

We can take a look at some IP that have been recently featured at other Universal properties worldwide, including Universal Horror Unleashed in Las Vegas. There are a handful of themed dining venues at Horror Unleashed, including Jack’s Alley Bar (Jack The Clown) and Premiere House (Blumhouse Productions). It’s been years since Jack has returned to Singapore, but I think it might seem strange not to announce it together with The FEARGround scare zone, which is already a twisted circus, and the location is just right. Or maybe Jack might make a last minute entrance.

Universal Monsters is a possibility: There is an entire Dark Universe at Universal’s Epic Universe theme park, a new year-round haunted house at Horror Unleashed, and Universal Beijing Resort is also getting their own Universal Monsters Crypt haunted house for their 2025 Scares @ Universal event. Other IPs for Singapore could include: The Exorcist, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, M3GAN, Wolf Man, The Black Phone, and even Five Nights at Freddy’s. Sequels for the last two will be releasing in cinemas soon.

I don’t think we’ll get a Purge-themed show (The Purge: Dangerous Waters at Universal Studios Hollywood) as Singapore’s Waterworld theatre is still undergoing maintenance. A night parade, which is finally feasible this year with the opening of Minion Land, would work with the Hyakki Yagyō-themed The Realm of Yokai scare zone, but the park would have announced it already.

If we assume that there will be no additional shows at scare zones, and that the Scaremony has R.I.P-ed for good, then I would say that the simplest solution is to bring back last year’s Night Terrors projection mapping show, but with some new IP-based content.

And now, less dreaming and back to walking.

The FEARground is slowly moving into the park’s New York zone.

For now, hanging above are tattered circus buntings and lights.

Soon the street will be filled with twisted carnies and sideshows.

At this stage is where you can enjoy the Dare or Die Live! show, hosted by the Death Devil himself.

Over at Jurassic Park, The Realm of Yokai is hiding in plain sight.

Surprisingly, a lot of props have arrived, and they’re all tucked around empty walkways around Jurassic Park.

Behind every stone, lies haunting bloodstained stone lanterns.

There are several printed walls barricading most of the props – at the usual place near the splashdown viewing area for Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure.

This is not the park’s first Japan-themed horror experience, as we had The Haunting of Oiwa (2018) and Spirit Dolls (2019) haunted houses.

The Realm of Yokai would be the first Japanese-themed scare zone. Set in an eerie forest. Some on a parade. After all, this scare zone is inspired by the Hyakki Yagyō, also known as the parade of a thousand yokai – spirits, demons, ghosts, and all other supernatural entities.
