Overview and Thoughts
In the history of Singapore’s Halloween Horror Nights, the theater shows in 2014 (Jack’s Nightmare Circus) and 2016 (Jack’s Recurring Nightmare Circus) are regarded by fans as some of the most iconic, and also setting a very high bar for any sort of performance staged at Pantages Hollywood Theater. The shows from 2017 to 2019 (Laboratorium, Dead Talks, Skin & Bones) were good, but didn’t quite match the intensity of the earlier productions. In 2024, the theater reopened after 4 years of hiatus, with Dark Dreams poised to reclaim its former glory in the hearts of Horror Nights fans.
Dark Dreams is a delightful spectacle, with its stunning choreography, good mix of illusions and stunts – all pulled together with tight and clever writing. More importantly, like the threads of a Dreamcatcher, the show strings together the theme of Halloween Horror Nights 12.

The theater darkens as the show title dissolves into nothingness, leaving only a haunting melody.
A sleepwalker, lost in a dream, stumbles onto the stage.
The Dreamcatcher. A powerful vessel, weaved for the entrapment of dreams
The sweet dreams float through the centre, in search of their dreamer
The nightmares, however, become trapped and twisted in the mangled web of terrors
The dreamer awakes, realising that she’s trapped in another realm.
Scream catchers feed on her fear, sinking her deeper into the nightmare.
Defeated by her captors, her soul is harvested and swept into the giant dream catcher.

They are the keeper of nightmares, and they just love the taste of BAD BLOOD… They’re ready to give you more than just a CRUEL SUMMER…

Dream Reaper: Halloween Horror Nights, say hello to… ME!
The Dream Reaper materialises, promising to make everyone’s nightmares come true.
Welcoming the audience to the Dream Wasteland, where dreams go to die. But before things could start…
Wait! Hold on, stop. Stop the music.
Hello, excuse me, hello sir? What time already? What so late hah?
Unamused by the latecomer that disrupted the opening number, the Dream Reaper, together with scream catchers and even stage managers rush out, breaking into song to berate the tardy guest.
You’re late, you’re late, you’re very very late! You try to sneak in down the aisle but that just sealed your fate
Giving the guy one last chance, the Dream Reaper asks about his worst nightmare.
Latecomer Guest: I have this dream where I’m standing in front of a big crowd. They’re all laughing at me and then I realise I was totally naked
A big crowd, totally naked? A classic! You mean something like this?
With that guest settled and harvested, the Dream Reaper brings out the Wheel of Misfortune.
We spin that wheel, and wherever it lands is the dark dream we’re going to dive right into!
The crowd cheers: SPIN! THAT! WHEEL! and the deadly wheel stops right between two slices: Claustrophobia and Drowning.
Oooh! It’s a double whammy! Tight spaces, bones crushing, suffocation! It just doesn’t get any better than this!
Another unlucky dreamer suffers the double misfortune – as she struggles through a surreal world buried underground, before sinking into the watery depths.
As the Dream Reaper harvests her soul, the water from the stage flows out, shrouding the audience.
The Wheel of Misfortune returns, this time landing perfectly in the Clowns segment.
Big smiles everyone! It’s time to run away with the circus, before they run… after YOU!
A man sleepwalks, pushing a cot into the Dream Wasteland. The eerie lullaby is shattered by the Dream Reaper.
Multiple clowns start to jump out from the cot, terrifying the man.
In this twisted carnival, the sinister clowns wield their magic to ensnare the confused dreamer, gradually turning him into his darkest nightmare: a clown.
As the dreamer is dragged through this surreal circus, a series of nightmarish transformations unfold.
The transformation grows increasingly gruesome, tearing the dreamer apart, piece by piece. Making it an easy win for the Dream Reaper.
Now that’s two souls down and one to go…
But you know I was thinking, while that guy was getting torn to pieces… Maybe I should come down and get to meet you all a little bit more!
The Dream Reaper walks off the stage, interacting with the audience.
They find someone to test out a new device, a Dream Reader, which broadcasts the wearer’s darkest dreams to the giant Dream Catcher.
You know what they say to fight the darkness, you should bring it into the light!
But in your case I think we’re gonna make an exception – Go back into the darkness you came from
Anticipation fills the air as the Dream Reaper spins the Wheel of Misfortune again with a maniacal grin. It lands aptly, on the fear of heights.
The next victim is brought in, begging the Dream Reaper for mercy. Instead, they put a shroud on her head and let her try to run out of the Dream Wasteland.
Racing across the theater, all attempts to escape were hopeless, as the Dream Reaper has trapped the dreamer in an endless loop of doors.
The scream catchers hurl her into the air.
The dreamer experiences her nightmare – hanging precariously from the ceiling, before falling to her doom.
With the third dream collected, three dream catchers float ominously in the wasteland.
Three perfect nightmares, from three pitiful humans.
Countless spiders start swarming the theater which descends into darkness.
Finally, after years of waiting, I have created my greatest nightmare yet!
White wisps dance in the air, swirling into a gigantic mass that slowly takes the form of a monster – a giant spider.
A monster so powerful, that together, we will rule your world, forever!
The curtain raises, unveiling the giant spider.
The Dream Reaper and his minions revel in their triumph, their newly created nightmare ready to escape the Dream Wasteland and terrorise the waking world.
Thank you for coming to my Dream Wasteland. Now it’s time to get out there and enjoy a nightmare I’ve made, just for you.
