With a European-themed floral display, Gardens by the Bay’s Flower Dome is slowly welcoming visitors again.
Gardens by the Bay reopens: What you need to know
The Flower Dome attraction will be open to the public from 11 July 2020. Tickets will be available for sale from 7 July 2020, through Gardens by the Bay’s new mobile app and online ticketing website. Physical ticketing counters onsite will not be open.
Opening Hours
Flower Dome will be open daily from 9AM to 8PM. To facilitate crowd management inside the attraction, entry time slots will be implemented for all visitors.
Members’ Special
Friends of the Gardens members can enjoy earlier access to the Flower Dome from 1 to 10 July 2020. Booking of a visit timeslot is required.
Safety Measures
Like every other place, visiting the Gardens will not be the same as before in this new normal.
Visitors must wear masks at Gardens by the Bay at all times, except for those performing strenuous activity (exercises) outdoors.
Within the Flower Dome, more precautionary measures are taken, including temperature screening, safe distancing floor markers, automatic entry and exit doors, and implementation of one-way visitor flow in Flower Dome. Self-disinfecting coating are applied on commonly touched surfaces like lift buttons and railings. Hand sanitisers are also available at all entrances, exits and high contact areas.
Available attractions, F&B and amenities
The outdoor Gardens at Bay South Gardens will remain open, including the Far East Organization Children’s Garden (The outdoor water playground and garden)
Other ticketed attractions, such as Cloud Forest, Supertree Observatory, Floral Fantasy and OCBC Skyway are closed until further notice.
Select F&B and amenities will also be available. Find out more here.
Members’ Special: Membership Extension, Free 2-hour Parking, and Shuttle Service from Bayfront Plaza to Flower Dome
Friends of the Gardens members with a valid membership as of 3 April 2020 would receive a complimentary 180-day (6-month) extension. They will also enjoy 2-hours of free parking without using physical carpark coupons – just register vehicle details online or via the new mobile app.
From now till 10 July 2020, members can also enjoy complimentary shuttle service from Bayfront Plaza to Flower Dome if they have a visit timeslot booking for the Flower Dome on the same day. Just show your booking confirmation at the shuttle stops.
Flower Dome Entry Process
Just like any other public place, SafeEntry Check In is mandatory. There are lines set up to help manage crowds and ensure social distancing due to the extra requirements.
As part of a drive towards a safe and contactless experience, the new Gardens by the Bay smartphone app is now your ticket to the attractions. It also has a few surprising features to enhance your visit, from simple games and activities to AR-enabled experiences.
Booking of visit timeslots can be easily made with a few taps in the app. It even shows you the capacity that is available. During the Members’ exclusive visit period, only 180 visitors are allowed to enter at every timeslot. This capacity is expected to gradually increase gradually.
If you are late for your visit timeslot, you will have to wait in line for entry into Flower Dome when there is capacity.
The app will generate a Ticket or Membership QR code, which you can self-scan at the turnstiles.
Inside Flower Dome (July 2020)
With disruptions caused by Covid-19, Gardens by the Bay took a different approach to design their European-themed floral display with plants grown in-house.
Some barriers are set up to help manage visitor traffic.
There’s also a new display at the top level of the Flower Dome.
The centerpiece of this display is a Castle surrounded with a field of sunflowers and other colourful blooms.
Due to safe distancing guidelines, there is a one-way traffic flow in most parts of Flower Dome, especially for the usual bottlenecks in the middle.
Spaces are also marked out to ensure safe distancing between visitors as they view the plants up close.
A small area at the Flower Dome is now a Pocket Garden, a series of mini garden displays that will be rotated every fortnight.
The first display is Edible Garden, which of course, features a collection of vegetables and herbs.
The Singapore Garden Festival 2020 was supposed to happen around this period. It has been deferred to 2021.
Along with the festival, usually the floral display in this season is orchid-centric. While there are still fields of orchids on display, you can see lots of (smaller) “sunflowers, foxgloves, larkspurs, kangaroo paw, coleus and pelargoniums”.
Also, the volume of the background area music in the Flower Dome has been reduced significantly.
Take note that re-entry to the Flower Dome is not permitted once you exit the conservatory.
Around Bay South Gardens
As the Flower Dome is only open to members, the other parts of the Bay South Gardens are also quite empty, save for the wider paths along the Bay which are popular with runners and cyclists.
Flower Dome (July 2020 Reopening) at Gardens by the Bay
Now open exclusively for Friends of the Gardens members
Open to public from 11 July 2020
To facilitate crowd management inside the attraction, entry time slots will be implemented for all visitors.
