Christmas Sugar Mountain at Gardens by the Bay

The Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay is refreshed with an original garden display this festive season. Designed by award-winning landscape designer Kazuyuki Ishihara, this fanciful floral display is embellished with delightful patches of edible plants.

This year’s Christmas overlay at the Flower Dome does not have one of those typical “Christmas tree and wreaths” look. It’s a more novel approach that made good use of colourful plants for that visual crunch, which I felt was better than last year’s.

To me, Christmas Sugar Mountain is still not as remarkable as Spring Celebrations and Tulipmania.

There is actually a story behind this floral arrangement.

One of the key highlights would be this cute little truck, completely adorned in green.

It’s nice to see how seemingly ordinary plants were creatively woven together to form this display. It’s a tight fit, but you will find pumpkins, capsicums, tomatoes, strawberries and even pineapples in this little field.

There were a couple of pineapple (fruit!) apart from the big yellow one.

Due to the way Christmas Sugar Mountain is designed, there are these barriers instead of the usual short fences. Kinda hard to take photos of the entire scene. Probably explains why, for the first time ever, I’ve saw that no one (during my visit) was interested in taking a photo with the flower field.
