Walk around lush landscapes inspired by scenes from Turkey and Cambodia in the newest displays – Rose Romance and Orchids of Angkor Wat – at Gardens by the Bay’s Flower Dome and Cloud Forest.
Rose Romance 2024 at Gardens by the Bay
For the month of June 2024, the fifth edition of Rose Romance brings you on a floral adventure to Turkey.
Roses are known as the “Queen of Flowers”, and this display features over 16,000 roses of nearly 70 varieties, including some rather unusual ones to note.
With a Turkish theme this year, the display has several structures and landscapes inspired by the region.
Explore a countryside landscape at the back row of the flower field, with Bodrum houses and a display of the Damask Rose, and Rose distilleries.
Around the distillery displays you can learn about rose oil and rose water production.
Walk by a fragrance store where traditional Turkish perfumes are on display.
There are some unusual roses on display this year, one of which is Rosa Sunshine Babylon Eyes, which are small, single-flowered roses with five petals.
Marvel at some unique Turkish ceramics, each painted with roses.
On the other side of display, you can find a reproduction of the famous thermal pools in Pamukkale, Turkey.
Continue your walk in the middle lane of the flower field, where you discover another Bodrum house – with its iconic white and blue colours, and see other roses up-close.
On the other side of the large Bodrum house: The Antonine Nymphaeum fountain of Sagalassos – scaled down and reproduced in Singapore.
Some of the most vibrant, beautiful blooms can be viewed around the fountain.
The floral arch in front of the centerpiece display is refreshed weekly, as part of collaboration with florists. This particular one by @theinteriorcollections, is magical with some unusual hybrid roses.
Towards the exit, you can find a well blooming with roses, and another floral setup with ceramic plates – which are good spots for photos if the main field is too crowded.
Orchids of Angkor Wat at Cloud Forest’s Orchid Haven
Did you know? The Orchid Haven section in Cloud Forest is now home to rotating displays.
From 17 May to 8 Sept, the Orchids of Angkor Wat will be on display in Cloud Forest.
Like past thematic displays at Orchid Haven, the area is filled with art and artifacts, along with some orchid species native to the region featured – in this case, Cambodia.
The centerpiece is a 3.5m tall recreation of the Angkor Wat temple complex.
The experience continues onwards, past the cascading fountains, leading you to the upper level where more orchids are on display.
