Gardens by the Bay – Year of the Horse Floral Display

The Year of the Horse Floral Display has arrived at the Flower Dome, bringing fresh colours to Gardens by the Bay. Have a walk around and enjoy the vibrant sights at this new floral display.

The upper level of Flower Dome looked rather ordinary. The giant “welcome” vase has vanished (so is the one at the end).

While it is hard to top Spring Celebrations, this year it seemed all too quiet. All the splashes of spinning colours and extensive decorations all over were not present this year – perhaps it was overdone and a cleaner look was preferred.

Visually, that this year’s arrangements are much more harmonious. There are some leftover elements from Christmas Sugar Mountain.

One of the few horses in the floral display, but this particular horse is one of a kind.

Three pairs of Chinese Spring Couplets can be found in the middle section of the Flower Dome. The orchid arrangements are quite spectacular.

The stars of this floral display are definitely the three wooden sculptures, depicting galloping horses. The flower field is inspired by a chinese painting called One Hundred Horses.

Galop Dramatique

I can certainly appreciate the (limited) blend of colours surrounding the horse sculptures. It wouldn’t have worked with last year’s chaotic bursts.

As it’s for Chinese New Year after all, there is an abundance of the usual golden blooms.

The park has revealed that this year’s seasonal rotations will be themed to “Gardens by the Bay Goes around the World”. Well, I hope that Netherlands is on the travel itinerary.
