Be enchanted by swirling masses of light sparks as SPARK by artist Daan Roosegaarde makes its Southeast Asian debut at Gardens by the Bay, Singapore.

SPARK at Gardens by the Bay

Created by Dutch artist Daan Roosegaarde, the immersive light installation SPARK makes its Southeast Asian debut in Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay. Inspired by stars and fireflies, Spark is the artist’s reimagination of fireworks, into a more sustainable form.

For just four nights (31 July – 3 August 2025), SPARK will be shown at the Supertree Grove Lawn at Gardens by the Bay. It is free for all to enjoy. This presentation is jointly organised by Gardens by the Bay and IMBA; and in collaboration with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Singapore; and supported by community partner Tote Board and GIC. The show not just marks SG60 (Singapore’s 60th year of independence), but also celebrating 60 years of strong bilateral ties between the Netherlands and Singapore.

After the speeches thanking all the partners that made this installation possible, the moment finally happened. The crowd fell silent as floating sparks above the lawn started to take shape.

Swirling bubbles started fading into view; the silent, floating light sparks conjures a mesmerizing sight – with the Supertrees and Marina Bay Sands forming irresistible photo ops.

From time to time, all the lights spark fade away completely – as it was never here.

The presence of the limitless light sparks is breathtaking when fully illuminated.

Its massless form changes with the view – so I suggest moving around the Lawn, or even explore other vantage points around the Supertree Grove. But bear in mind you have limited time…

With just 4 shows at 2 hours each, SPARK at Gardens by the Bay is an ephemeral encounter, mirroring the medium of illuminated floating bubbles. Don’t miss your chance before it’s gone.

I went to GBB this evening,1 Aug 2025, wanting to catch the SPARK show at the super tree grove area. Was there at 7.45pm and waited for show to come on at 8pm. Nothing came on. Waited till 9.05pm, still no show! There was no announcement of delayed or cancellation of show. Disappointed and left. This is terrible! What happened? GBB must deliver on what it advertised! It was a wasted trip and time and given the humid weather was an unpleasant experience.

Were you at the main Supertree Grove area, where Garden Rhapsody is usually performed?
