Meet Captain Mickey at Jewel

Perhaps the most exciting experience is the Disney Cruise Line Meet and Greet at Jewel Changi Airport, and because this is free, it’s very popular. During each Meet and Greet, you can meet a combination of characters, including Captain Mickey, Captain Minnie, Donald, Daisy and Goofy.

How to Meet Captain Mickey and Friends
Meet & Greet passes are distributed 30 minutes before each session, on a first-come-first-served basis. No purchase necessary to participate.
Location: Level 2 West Gateway Garden (between Dyson and Tim Ho Wan)
Only on 16, 17, 23, 24 November, 7, 8, 9, 10 December 2024
Timeslots: 11AM, 1PM, 3:30PM, 6PM, 7:30PM

Each pass is good for a group of up to four guests. Although you will only get one photo per group, the cast members will just take multiple shots on burst so that you can pick out your favourite photos.
Disney Adventure at Jewel’s Canopy Park

Wander around Jewel’s Canopy Park and discover gifts from Captain Mickey around the Park’s gardens, each one inspired by a distinct area onboard the Disney Adventure.
For the full experience, you will need tickets to multiple Canopy Park attractions: Bouncing Net, Hedge Maze, and Mirror Maze. The 3-in-1 package on Pelago offers these attractions as a bundle, or you can buy the Canopy Park Bundle 2 and Bundle 4 on-site at Jewel. These packages will already include the base admission to Canopy Park.

For the essential Adventure Quest experience, you just need the Canopy Park + Hedge Maze combo. You can still collect the stamps, but will skip the Toy Story Place experience within Bouncing Net, and the Frozen-themed maze and photo backdrop at the end of the Mirror Maze. You can get the ‘Hedge Maze with Complimentary Canopy Park’ tickets from Pelago; or the ‘Hedge Maze + Free Canopy Park’ from Klook that is also available on-site at Jewel.

Start your Adventure Quest at the Hedge Maze, where you will collect your Stamp Leaflet and the first stamp.
Now, imagine the cruise ship is like a Disney theme park, with several themed areas to explore throughout the cruise. Disney Imagination Garden is one of them, and it’s uniquely designed like a park where guests can enjoy beautiful gardens, quick bites, and live performances. Some Verandah-class staterooms will offer a private balcony overlooking into this charming area.
Inspired by Disney Imagination Garden, the Hedge Maze has Mickey Mouse-shaped topiaries, as well as a Sorcerer Mickey statue. On the cruise ship itself, Sorcerer Mickey will be sculpted as a topiary.
Before heading into the Canopy Park, head to the exit of the Mirror Maze for your second stamp. The Town Square zone is inspired by Disney’s iconic princesses and heroines, with the Royal Court being one of the key highlights with stunning stained-glass-style murals on the ceiling. Guests can also enjoy Broadway-style shows at the Walt Disney Theatre in this zone.
Time to head inside Canopy Park to discover more presents from Captain Mickey!
Disney Discovery Reef is another open-air area filled with numerous dining options. With characters and scenes from The Little Mermaid, Finding Nemo, Lilo & Stitch and Luca, you can unwind in this enchanting, relaxing space.
Right above Disney Discover Reef is Marvel Landing, an exciting world where you can meet your heroes. This area also features three rides: Groot Galaxy Spin (Spinner), Pym Quantum Racers (Go Karts Track) and Ironcycle Test Run – the longest roller coaster at sea!
While you’re exploring Disney Adventure installations at Canopy Park, don’t forget to take breaks and marvel at the iconic Rain Vortex from the exclusive high viewpoints.
San Fransokyo Street will be an indoor area inspired by Big Hero 6. Designed to be a bustling entertainment area, you can enjoy games and activities, including two speakeasy clubs (for tweens and teens) hidden away among the shops. A big video game arcade and the Baymax cinemas here will offer endless fun for the family.
Toy Story Place will offer splashes of fun at the ship’s upper decks, with a variety of pools, slides and water play areas. You can also grab ice cream from the Wheezy’s Freezies (popular across Disney’s cruise ships!), and quick bites from Pizza Planet (from Toy Story!)
At Canopy Park’s Bouncing Net, giant beach balls with designs inspired by Toy Story characters and motifs allude to all the potential fun onboard the Disney Adventure.
Located at the aft deck, or back of the ship, to offer stunning views of the sea, Wayfinder Bay will feature tiered deck seating and sparkling pools where you can enjoy live stage performances, including Moana: Call of the Sea.
The Adventure Quest concludes at Canopy Park’s Petal Garden, with a scale replica of the ship’s iconic funnel, together with a giant Life Buoy and interactive portholes to play with.
After collecting all 7 stamps at Canopy Park, head to the Redemption Counter at Jewel’s Basement 2 for the final stamp, along with the reward for completing the Adventure Quest: A high-quality poster of Disney Adventure, showcasing the characters you can meet onboard!
Disney Adventure: A Short History
Originally named Global Dream, this vessel was acquired by Disney Cruise Line in 2022 amidst the challenges faced by Dream Cruises and Resorts World Hong Kong. The ship was already being built, and was sold at a bargain price of 40 million euros, down from its original value of 1.8 billion euros. It was originally designed to be the largest cruise ship in the world, with a capacity of up to 9,000 guests and 2,200 crew.
The acquisition of Global Dream marked a significant milestone for Disney Cruise Line, expanding its fleet into a new market with Disney Adventure homeported in Singapore. It is also the largest ship in the fleet, with 20 decks.
The original ship was designed with numerous “world’s first” facilities and attractions, plus casinos that Resorts World Cruises are known for. After buying over the ship, Disney retooled most of the interior spaces and reduced its capacity to 6,000 guests. While there will be no gaming venues on this cruise ship, it will retain much of its theme park attractions and entertainment facilities. Reworked with Disney theming and storytelling, it will transform into a floating “theme park” at sea, delivering the ultimate Disney sailing experience in Asia.

Marvel Landing
The Adventure begins in December 2025
Disney Adventure will set sail on its 3-night maiden voyage on 15 December 2025, with other 5-night special holiday sailings for Christmas and New Year 2026. 3-night and 4-night sailings will be the norm for Disney Adventure’s Magic at Sea itineraries, with no shore excursions or stops, as the ship will depart and return to Singapore.
Due to new developments, Disney Adventure’s Maiden Season has been postponed till March 2026. The maiden voyage now will set sail on 10 March 2026.

Happiness is Here is not just Tokyo Disney Resort’s special 30th Anniversary celebrations. A new day-time parade was created to mark this special occasion, and it is performed during normal seasons at Tokyo Disneyland.
Tokyo DisneySea – Mysterious Island – part two
We are back at Tokyo DisneySea’s Mysterious Island. At night, the volcano is partially shrouded in darkness, but its energetic caldera glows with secrets. Its true face, as Captain Nemo’s secret base, unravels every night.
Tokyo Disneyland – Tomorrowland and Space Mountain

Tokyo Disneyland’s Tomorrowland is a minimalist fantasy of the future. As strange as this might sound, the area doesn’t feel very futuristic in today’s world – it features very clean lines and muted colours (with some graduated blue accents) across its architecture.
Tokyo DisneySea – Journey to the Center of the Earth
Possibly the most illustrious theme park attraction at Tokyo DisneySea, Journey to the Center of the Earth is a one-of-a-kind adventure set in the world of Captain Nemo.
Tokyo DisneySea – Mysterious Island
Mysterious Island – a world hidden within Mount Prometheus that is heavily inspired by some of Jules Verne‘s most iconic novels. This themed zone is the centerpiece of Tokyo DisneySea.

Mount Prometheus is the icon of Tokyo DisneySea, and can be seen (outdoors) from every other themed port-of-call around the park.
The volcano connects to a massive, water-filled caldera, known as Vulcania Lagoon. The waters, perpetually influenced by the active volcano, are always tumultuous.
Fantastic rock theming aside, this themed area is designed in such a way where its facilities (attractions, shops and other amenities) are stacked within the caldera. Being right in the middle of the park, with a lagoon and river running through the lower levels, means that the design needs to get creative. Those who have seen the park’s blueprints will know what I’m talking about.
Once inside, visitors would feel completely enclosed in Jules Verne’s stories by the mountainous terrain. Mysterious Island is home to two dark rides, two restaurants, and a quaint souvenir shop. The DisneySea Transit Steamer sails through the lagoon.
Structures in teal give a visual break from the zone’s dominant rockwork.
A massive floodgate at one of the area’s walkway leading to the back of the park.

Rather astonishing detail here: aged but not “aged”.
Hanging lamps along a rocky wall.
Gentle transition in theming, as seen from Mermaid Lagoon‘s outdoor area. Let’s go back.
One “attraction” of Tokyo DisneySea can be found below this bridge. It’s not a ride or show, but a food stand selling snacks.
Welcome one and all to the world-famous Refreshment Station. Home to the popular Gyoza Sausage Bun (or Gyoza Dog, in Japanese), which is more popularly known as Nautilus Gyoza.
Because it somewhat looks like the Nautilus, Captain Nemo’s submarine, which is docked at Mysterious Island.
Supposedly the snack got too popular many years ago, causing long lines extending out of Mysterious Island.
There always a queue here, but the stall is well-stocked.
The Happiness Year’s Foldable Box.
Anyway, the gyoza buns go for ¥420 (~S$5.20) each. The stall also sells some soft drinks at ¥230/290 (~S$2.80/3.60, prices for small and medium cups), the standard price at both parks.
So Tokyo DisneySea’s famous Nautilus Gyoza is a steamed bun (bao/pau) with a sausage inside (gyoza filling). Not quite a fried gyoza and also not a legit bao. However, the experience of queuing and eating away at a nearby bench is one of those unique Tokyo Disney Resort rituals.

Nautilus Galley is a small eatery at the lower level. It’s a nice shaded place to rest and marvel at the caldera’s waters, as well as to see the Nautilus submarine up-close.

But if you are thinking of dining here, head to Vulcania Restaurant – a quick service buffeteria at the upper level of the caldera, which serves Chinese-style food.
For starters, the restaurant offers soups (from ¥350) and salads (¥400). Set meals for kids start at ¥890, though parents who wish to splurge can go for the set with a souvenir plate (¥2090)!
All entrees start at ¥950 (~S$11.70). You can choose from Fried Rice (with Char Siu), Shrimp in chili sauce, Fried Chicken, Chilled Noodles, Spicy Tofu and Pan-fried pork and vegetables.
Chilled Char Siu noodles.
My sister and I shared the Vulcania Special set meal (¥1650, ~S$20.30) which includes chilled noodles, an entree of your choice (small portion) and dessert.

Even if you don’t fancy the food, the restaurant is too amazing to miss. Have a walk around.
As the restaurant is built into a part of the volcano, you’d expect the dining area to be like a cave, complete with all sorts of strange machines – courtesy of Captain Nemo.
If you’ve ever wanted to dine in a volcano, or a cave, this is probably the best place on Earth.
We’ll revisit Mysterious Island again in the next entry and uncover its attractions.
