Keeping with its high streak with special programmes and events, Universal Studios Singapore announced Halloween Horror Nights 2, weeks ahead of its competitors. Meanwhile, New York zone is getting more vibrant with new Sesame Street installations.

Universal Studios Singapore – Update 07/2012

The park is usually less crowded after the busy June period. Although there are new major attractions lined up until Halloween Horror Nights in October, it’s a nice period to visit the park in the coming months, with reasonable wait-times for the park’s popular attractions.

Marine Life Park – from the air 4

Waterfront Overview 2

Marine Life Park looks amazing and almost complete now. Gone are the pools undergoing cleaning and treatment – they are all sparkling blue. There are also many finishing touches all over the park – we can now see the little facilities offered at the park to make a visit enjoyable.


This update also includes the list of water rides and attractions available at Adventure Cove Waterpark at Marine Life Park.

Universal Studios Singapore – Update 05/2012

Far Far Away

On 28th May 2011, the park celebrated its grand opening. I was back at the park a year later, but it was an ordinary day. Unlike other major theme parks, there were no “First Anniversary” events here, but the park recently announced some new attractions.

Lao Ban-style Soya Beancurd recipe + guide

Lao Ban Soya Beancurd

Last year, a new craze has set Singaporeans queuing for hours. The new obsession is Soya beancurd dessert – a simple, custard pudding that is sweet, light and your best friend during a hot day (which is almost every other day in Singapore) – a bowl for just $1.50. One of the most famous is Lao Ban Soya Beancurd, which has gotten so popular that it expanded out of their first Old Airport Road stall and spawned several competitors. It is not uncommon to see happy people walking out of the hawker centre with tall bags, holding not less than 5 bowls each, looking as if they’ve won the lottery or just completed their Honours Thesis at NUS.

With more competitors and the novelty fading, Lao Ban’s stalls do not draw queues as crazy-long as before – there are still queues during peak periods though. Also, there is an increasing number of people making their own at home.
