Grand Opening of Minion Land at Universal Studios Singapore
The park celebrated the Opening of Illumination’s Minion Land, a One-in-A-Minion moment, with a special event held on the morning of 14 February 2025.
It’s a yellow carpet experience, with the stars of the events – the Minions – strutting down the walk of fame!
Kevin’s too excited to be here! And so are we!
As the Minions (and media) share their knowledge and favourite things about Minions, more of these yellow creatures walk on the carpet.
The yellow carpet leads to the edge of Minion Land, ready for another celebration!
The Minions start off with the Universal Fanfare in their unique style, a “Pineapple” is rolled for good luck, and then…
The VIPs gather with Gru to activate his latest gadget. The yellow gates swing open with fanfare, welcoming all to the new Despicable world!
The party continues onto the streets of Minion Land!
Margo’s excited to show us around her favourite things to do at Super Silly Fun Land: Whimsical rides and carnival games
We must have the pineapple!
The day marked a major milestone and a happy celebration for everyone involved!
While not everyone could attend the Opening Ceremony, don’t worry – from 14 to 18 Feb 2025, you can also enjoy opening celebrations at Minion Land with enhanced Meet and Greet experiences and shows, and more decorations like these gigantic balloons.

Minion Land at Universal Studios Singapore: A Photo Tour
As mentioned earlier, Universal Studios Singapore’s Minion Land combines ideas from other Minion Lands around the world. Let’s go on a tour!
Minion Marketplace
This area adapted the beloved Minion Park at Universal Studios Japan, but with a different layout. Almost all the wacky buildings were recreated, such as the most iconic mega gumball machine with playful Minions!
Step inside Sweet Surrender and you’ll find a colourful wonderland filled with pastel Minion mechandise and sweet treats. The Minions couldn’t get their hands off some of them!
Right next door is the Pop Store, where you can discover vibrant souvenirs and must-haves designed by the Minion, plus highly collectible items like blind boxes, including this exclusive Minions Zodiac which is flying off the shelves. At S$22 each, it’s time to gather 12 friends and hope everyone will get lucky!
The last area, Fun Store, sells several kinds of toys, as well as the Super Silly Space Killer collection, made specially for the Singapore park. Also on display now is the Limited Edition Super Silly Space Killer vinyl collectible in both variants, the full colour (shown above, edition of 1000) and iridescent finish (edition of 100).
I’ll show you more of the other buildings at Minion Marketplace in another article – but let’s just say that they are truly beautiful replicas of the excellent Minion Park from Japan, with some tweaks here and there.
At Minion Land, you can also encounter several characters as part of the Minute of Minion Mayhem show, which concludes with separate Meet and Greet across the entire zone, with some happening at Minion Marketplace. The rest of the gang will head off to other sections of the Land, such as Gru’s Neighbourhood!
Gru’s Neighbourhood at Minion Land
Gru’s imposing house in the suburbs is the gateway to a key attraction in Minion Land, Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem! You get to be transformed into a Minion and undergo Minion Training.
This appears to be the only version of the ride to feature the spiral staircase as part of the queue – faithful to the first film. So the line doesn’t split at the entrance of Gru’s House – the queue start in this room for all 3 lines: Normal entrance, Universal Express, and Single Rider.
Similar to other variants of Minion Mayhem ride, after going through the foyer, you will go into a “blue zone” queue before it leads you back into another part of Gru’s house. Over here, the queue is integrated into ramps, because the ride takes place on the second level of the show building.
All lines merge into the first pre-show room, which has 3 lanes split into 2 smaller ones (a total of 6 rows) to help with boarding later. Stationary seats are available via a separate lane.
The second room has a curved bend, before leading into the main theatre.
The theatre has 12 ride vehicles, seating 8 each. Your Minion Training experience begins here!
After the ride, you will head back down to street level, but before that you can get a glimpse of the Minion Dance Party happening below.
Gru’s Neighbourhood is also a place where you can meet Gru’s Girls!
Super Silly Fun Land
The whimsical Super Silly Fun Land is just across Gru’s Neighbourhood. How convenient!
Over here, you can enjoy the iconic carnival games – including the famous Super Silly Space Killer and Banana Cabana! Games are priced at $8 per shot for Space Killer ($15 for 3 shots), and $5 per banana at the Cabana ($10 for 3 bananas). The cans are restacked after every play for Space Killer.
Silly Swirly, a spinner ride known as Balloon Race, with the bug monsters from the movie!
Buggie Boogie, the world’s first and only Minions dance party-themed carousel ride!
Both spinner attractions are super popular, and the waits hovered at around 30 minutes throughout the early afternoon on Opening Day. If the weather was cooler, it might even go longer.
During the Opening Event, I visited Super Hungry Food Stand at Super Silly Fun Land and got to try a few of the main dishes and desserts offered there. But first, a quick peek at one of the unique carnival-inspired rooms – it’s the minions wreaking havoc at this fun fair!
Some of the Minions’ favourite dishes are available here, like Stuart’s Japanese Curry Karaage and Chili Crab Minion Mantous.
You can also grab desserts such as Minion Banana Cake Pop, Minion Lychee Roll, and Tim Bear Mousse Cake. They are also available at the Ice Cream stand just outside the Super Hungry Food Stand.
Tips & Tricks for Universal Studios Singapore’s Minion Land
Visit Minion Land first
If you can arrive at Universal Studios Singapore for its park opening time, it is best to head directly to Minion Land and experience the attractions first before the queues become quite long. As it is the park’s busy season, you can expect to wait around 40-80 minutes, or even longer, for Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem, and about 30-40 minutes for the other rides at Super Silly Fun Land. This will naturally reduce the time you have to enjoy (and queue) for other attractions in the park.
Another option is to buy Universal Express Plus Passes – but read the next section. If you are visiting on a peak day, such as weekends and holidays, then you may not want to enter the park late as the Express Plus Passes may be sold out.
Important: Buy the correct Universal Express Plus Pass
At this time, the standard Universal Express Add-on sold at the park does not include all 3 attractions at Minion Land: Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, Silly Swirly, and Buggie Boogie. Other excluded rides are: Canopy Flyer, Treasure Hunter, and Magic Potion Spin. Express Passes also do not grant front row access on any ride.
To skip the regular queue and enjoy shorter waiting time at Minion Land attractions, you will need to buy the Universal Express PLUS Add-on, which includes one-time use at Minion Land attractions, along with the other participating rides and shows offered with the regular Express. Prices start from S$120 for Universal Express PLUS. On Opening Day, it went up to $150, before it was quickly sold out.
Guests on the USS VIP Tour can enjoy VIP access to Minion Land attractions as part of their tour package.
Plan your day around with the Official Park App
Use the Universal Studios App (App Store | Play Store) to get show times, ride wait times and more, to help with your planning and navigation around the park.
Bring the Essentials
Minion Land is mostly outdoors, so be prepared for the weather. It can get really hot! Bring sunscreen, umbrellas, and a water bottle, as refill points are available at some parts of the attraction queues.
Nearest Restrooms
The Restrooms at Minion Land is located nearest to Super Hungry Food Stand. It is across the street and actually at Hollywood (shown on the left in the photo above).
Know the height requirements for USS Minion Land Attractions
While Minion Land offers fun for the whole family, but there are height requirements:
Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem: Children between 102-122cm must be accompanied by an adult companion. Guests under 102cm must experience this attraction from stationary seats.
Silly Swirly: Children under 122cm must be accompanied by an adult companion.
Buggie Boogie: Children under 122cm must be accompanied by an adult companion.
Area Reserved for Future Expansion at Universal Studios Singapore
At the edge of Minion Land, there is an area that is clearly reserved for the next phase of Universal Studios Singapore’s expansion. This stage will eventually make way for the Warp Pipe entrance to Super Nintendo World.

I think the pictures in this article need to be optimized through something (tinypng.com?) to minimize their size. I can’t get the whole page to load…
Hi Kevin, there’s just too many photos in the article (double the usual) because I wanted to show as much as possible. But I’ll give that service a try.
Your photos are always lovely; I didn’t want to miss a single one!
