Projection Mapping installations
A Night Festival staple: Large-scale projection mapping artworks transform building facades around Bras Basah.Bugis.
Between Threads (Clare Chong, Jennifer O’Connor, Taufiq Hidayat, Jaymi McManus)
Peranakan Museum
Marvel at the iconic facade of the Peranakan Museum as colourful patterns and motifs transform the building into a stunning visual canvas. You can also press on giant beads with other visitors to further weave textures and make the colours flow into a cohesive display.
Head inside the Peranakan Museum and find the unfinished beaded panel that inspired Between Threads in the Decorative Textiles Gallery on Level 3.
CHIJMES projections
Four new works will be shown in rotation at CHIJMES, which is also one of the festival villages at this year’s Night Fest.
Uncover A Prototype of Play (deniseardenise) as this animation spotlights how our minds can transform simple objects into games.
PINBOLA (Yanyun Chen) – a fantastical Pinball machine that increasingly becomes more chaotic as it plays by itself.
Inspired by childhood memories and nostalgic sights, Play Downstairs (Rachodoodles) brings back the carefree joys of the everyday.
Go on A Whimsical Odyssey (Aaah – Ryan Len and Ella Zheng) as ordinary objects reveal gateways to imaginative exploration.
Night Lights installations
Discover 10 artworks scattered around the Bras Basah.Bugis precinct that evokes the art of play, this year’s festival theme.
Between Threads (Clare Chong, Jennifer O’Connor, Taufiq Hidayat, Jaymi McManus)
Entrance of Peranakan Museum
Accompanying the projection mapping work of the same name, the Between Threads installation lets visitors immerse in the interactive artwork imbued with mesmerising visuals.
First Flight (Aaron Lim, Quek Jia Qi)
Armenian Street in front of SMU’s Yong Pung How School of Law Building
A giant paper plane lights up Armenian street with a sense of wonder – and you can fold your own paper planes here too.
Fortune Beads (KIMBAB:) aka Natthakit Kangsadansenanon)
Funan Mall
Test your agility in this giant interactive abacus, where you can compete with other visitors in a thrilling race against time.
Red House Cafe (Jaxton Su)
Raffles City Singapore
A tribute to the Red House from the 1960s, this installation is filled with giant light versions alluding to the popular bakery items from the era (and maybe even today?)
Scents of Being (Aesop)
Atrium, National Design Centre
Go on a sensory journey as you explore a mystical forest and encounter eleven scents from Aesop’s Eaux de Parfum.
Opera in Motion: A Dynamic Tribute to Chinese Opera (Opera in Motion)
Pedal on this tricycle and spin the zoetropes to see opera motifs come to life at the National Design Centre, as you rediscover the world of Chinese Opera.
The Happiest Days of Our Lives (Rizman Putra)
Stamford Arts Centre
Vibrant illustrations from old-school textbook and story book covers have been reimagined as a vibrant neon mural at the Stamford Arts Centre.
It’s a small room – and the media quickly learned during the preview that wearing dark clothing is great for photos in this installation.
Through the rose window (Diva Agar)
Frangipani Garden, next to Stamford Arts Centre
Inspired by an old singing game played by school girls, this installation echoes the song from the past, while also reflecting Waterloo Street chapel’s history as a school.
Delulu High (Pop GlitterFreak Collective)
Bugis Street Art Lane
Inspired by schools in the area and childhood dreams, Delulu High comprises multiple installations:
First, you can board the Disco Bus.
Then head to the Funnazium for some easy breezy workouts.
Make your way up the colourful affirmation steps to find your classroom.
Look Up, Sunbear! (tobyato)
YMCA
A colourful sun bear balancing an apple can be found right outside the YMCA building.
