Halloween Horror Nights 12 news
Halloween Horror Nights 12 (HHN12) will return to Universal Studios Singapore for 18 nights from 27 September to 2 November 2024. More information can be found in the HHN12 Event Guide article on DEJIKI.COM
Original article as follows:
The walls have gone up at the usual locations – works to bring the horrors to life in haunted houses have begun.
For now, you can revisit past Horror Nights events in my Museum of Horror Nights special feature.
Minion Land construction
NEW: End July 2024 Update
Update: On 29 July 2024, RWS has announced that the attractions in the Super Silly Fun Land area in Singapore: Buggie Boogie (Carousel), and Silly Swirly (Balloon Chase). The expansion is also confirmed to open in 2025. New conceptual renderings were also released:
An overview of Minion Land, from Hollywood Boulevard.
The Minion Marketplace section of the expansion, adapted from the original Minion Park at Universal Studios Japan.
The Super Silly Fun Land area, a mix of ideas from various Minion-themed sections from other Universal Studios parks. It will include in the Silly Swirly attraction, carnival games, and many photo spots.
Singapore’s exclusive Buggie Boogie carousel ride, where you can enjoy Minion-remixed songs.
Lastly, the Despicable Me Minion Mayhem attraction in the Gru’s Neighbourhood area of Minion Land.
NEW: Mid July 2024 Update
Here are some further updates on the “Silly Swirly” balloon chase and Despicable Me Minion Mayhem attractions’ construction progress. All the flying “monsters” have been installed onto the ride, and we can also see the tilting axis added to the ride structure, along with a minion at the top.
Gru’s House, the entrance for Singapore’s Despicable Me Minion Mayhem attraction will have 2 signs, one facing Far Far Away near the top, and the original at the same position as Universal Studios Japan’s version of the attraction.
Original article as follows:
With about half a year more to go (or maybe slightly less) before opening, the progress at Minion Land can be easily seen across the park’s lagoon.
The pathway circling the lagoon is now blocked off to remove the Madagascar theming.
So now guests can no longer take a short cut to Far Far Away, and have to walk through all the other zones of the park to get there.
From this angle, you can see the Gru’s House and the blue show building of the Despicable Me Minion Mayhem attraction. It’s an indoor motion theatre. In front of it is the Super Silly Fun Land area, and you can already see a Minion stuck on one of the towers. In Super Silly Fun Land, you can enjoy some gentler rides and carnival games to win the Fluffy unicorn (like Agnes in the first Despicable Me movie).
The facades beside the blue building are reproductions from Minion Park at Universal Studios Japan, which I explained earlier this year:
Apart from Minion Mayhem, Singapore is getting a unique Minion Carousel ride, along with a new Super/ Silly Swirly ride. In other Super Silly Fun Land areas (at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Beijing), Super/ Silly Swirly is the more common “Dumbo” or aerial carousel kind of ride.
As Universal Studios Singapore already has Dino-Soarin’, the new Super/ Silly Swirly (or it may be named differently) will be a Balloon Race attraction instead, where the seats are suspended from these monsters, and the central axis will tilt as it spins, giving the ride a different, and possibly thrilling experience.
A more similar ride would be the Lanterns of Legendary Legends at Universal Studios Beijing’s Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness.
From Hollywood, you can also see part of the decorative walls that form the boundary of Minion Land, with billboards carrying messages to “be a Minion” and the joys of being a Minion. These are connected to the story of Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, and can also be found in other versions of the attraction around the world, typically inside the queue, or on the show buildings.

New UNIVRS Store
A new UNIVRS Store will open at The Brown Derby, taking over the Sesame Street-themed retail location which I believe has not reopened since the pandemic. UNIVRS Store at Universal Studios Singapore will carry exclusive fashion items based on popular Universal IP. The merchandise will be released in limited quantities for a limited time. The initial collection announced for Summer 2024 include characters and films such as Woody Woodpecker, Hot Stuff, Back to the Future, and collabs such as Minions x Buff Monster and Felix the Cat x Mister Cartoon.
The park has not announced an official opening date for the UNIVRS Store, but it was expected to open during the 2024 Summer event.
Even Earlier Park Entry with USS Rise & Dine breakfast package
From 1 July to 31 August 2024, USS is offering the Rise & Dine package, which offers an even earlier headstart to the park (from 8AM) with access to select rides and exclusive Meet and Greet sessions with park characters. This offers an extra hour of time in the park on top of the 1-hour Early Entry perk (from 9AM) provided to guests who purchase eligible park tickets from the RWS website.
For the Rise & Dine package, breakfast is served at selected restaurants including Starbot Cafe and Loui’s NY Pizza Parlor, and guests can enjoy early access to attractions such as Transformers: The Ride 3D, Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase, and Lights, Camera, Action.
Meet and Greet line-up includes Minions, Kung Fu Panda and Transformers.
This means that early access areas are likely limited to Hollywood, New York and Sci-Fi City, until the rest of the park officially opens at 10AM.
Over the decade ago, the park offered Sesame Street Character Breakfast and further tweaked this offering sometime in 2017. It then became a seasonal offering. The Triple Thrills Pass was another product that offered early access (and light refreshments) with its Behind The Thrills programme.
Lake Hollywood Spectacular (fireworks show) returns
The Lake Hollywood Spectacular fireworks show will return to the park for a limited season – once a week (every Friday) from 12 July to 23 August 2024. It will then resume from November 2024 after Halloween Horror Nights 12.
Guests hoping to catch both of Universal Studios Singapore’s fireworks and parade shows will have to visit the park on two separate days, as the weekly Universal Star Power Parade is only available on Sundays at this time.
Far Far Away Castle Changes
Over at Far Far Away, there seems to be some major modification works in the building across from the castle facade, which doesn’t look like castle wall refurbishment works. There might be some sort of Far Far Away Castle Projection Mapping show in the works, perhaps in time for Halloween Horror Nights 12.
The Milk Bar at Far Far Away has been replaced with a new tenant, Ye Olde Fortune Teller. This is a new show that replaces The Dance for The Magic Beans, and will still star Puss in Boots and Kitty Softpaws.
Street shows highlight
On the topic of shows, Sesame Street Goes Bollywood has returned to Ancient Egypt. And if you haven’t seen it yet, there is Raptor Encounter: Generations where you can meet a Velociraptor hatchling, baby raptor, and Blue all in one show – this happens only once a day.
Over at Ancient Egypt, you can meet the legendary Aset Warrior, who has been added to the line-up earlier this year.
Park Re-Entry No Longer Allowed at Universal Studios Singapore
The park has changed their policy on re-entry, effective from 1 June 2024. With the new policy, Universal Studios Singapore park tickets no longer grant re-entry.
Essentially the tickets can only be used once when entering the park, and after guests have exited, they cannot re-enter USS without buying a new ticket.
Universal Express Unlimited Pass sales discontinued
Sometime in April 2024, all references to the Universal Express Unlimited Pass were quietly removed from the park’s official website and is no longer offered for sale.
This add-on offers unlimited access to the attractions’ express line where available, and is sold at a slightly higher price from the standard Universal Studios Express Pass. For now, USS guests may only purchase the normal Universal Express Pass good for single use at each participating attraction. The Universal Express Pass in Singapore also appears to now start from S$80 per pass.
Universal Express Unlimited remains a perk of Universal Studios Singapore’s VIP Experience package.

Where will Super Nintendo world be built?
It will be built on the original site of Madagascar: A Crate Adventure, and taking over adjacent buildings outside of the current park boundary.
Not sure when it was first implemented. But USS no longer allows re-entry. I was not aware of the change and felt trapped while waiting for the 8pm fireworks.
