Discover Changi Airport like never before at Changi Experience Studio, a new interactive attraction at Jewel.
Billed as a virtual world of Changi Airport, the Changi Experience Studio is a new attraction at Level 4 of Jewel. After spending an hour at the Studio, I was left quite impressed at its design. It feels just about the same as everything else at Jewel – wow, exciting, and big.
While there are many multimedia effects (and some gimmicks) here – they all work together to tell the airport’s story in ways that most visitors could better appreciate. Big events and everyday labours that make Changi Airport great are presented in exciting, and often novel ways. It’s a beautiful space, the exhibits are highly interactive, and the overall experience has a cool, high-tech touch.
Your journey begins at Cloud, where the butterfly companions are introduced.
Every visitor will be given this Travel Guide, a foldable square panel with AR markers and embedded RFID. Open and hold them under any of the projections to make butterflies appear.
The next area, Time Tunnel, showcases Changi Airport’s evolution with its milestones and key events.
The tunnel opens up into the Hanging Garden, filled with tables where projections start to reveal the inner workings of Changi Airport at different scales.
This is where the Travel Guide unveils another layer of the user experience. Every table has more animations that come alive on the handheld guides.
Climb onto one of the bikes at the Amazing Runway to relive the race between the Boeing 747 and Porsche 911 GT3 Carrera Cup car – an event that took place at the airport in 2009.
You’ll have to pick a side to support – and pedal your way to the finish!
Settle down from the adrenaline at the mesmerising Sky Deck, where its arc of screens show Changi’s connections with the rest of the world.
Your Travel Guide will help uncover more about the destinations.
Step out into the next big area is both the Backstage and Arena. Probably the most happening area of the Studio.
The games and booths of Backstage let you experience some of the things that happen behind the scenes at the airport. It’s a collection of fun minigames – from being an immigration officer, coordinating aircraft turnaround, to sorting luggage to the right belts at arrival hall.
Try your hand in clearing the trolleys around the terminal.
Or keep your eyes sharp and spot for prohibited items at this screening simulation.

Express your happiness here – go against with a Changi airport staff or a friend to find out. Your smile will be scientifically graded.
The Best 10 smiles will be proudly displayed at the Studio!
Follow the butterflies into the Garden of Harmony, where you can walk along and touch the interactive lilypads.
The path opens up into a large digital garden – this is where you can be part of an orchestra and make music with other visitors.
With enough energy, it will trigger an immersive light and sound show within the Garden, expressing how everything at Changi comes together.
Your journey ends off with the Finale, a video presentation on Changi’s evolution with a peek in the future. Come and see the Rain Vortex of the future.

One full day of transit area attractions is accessible if you are flying SQ (or certain eligible airlines) and check in 24-hrs early via the “Early Check In” facility.
I always check in 24 hrs early prior to my actual vacation (aka 1 free day) for this purpose as well as accessing to “Priority Pass” lounges via my travel credit card. (i.e SATS Premier Lounge / Plaza Premium Lounge etc)
