Spend an enchanting day with Santa and friends at Universal Studios Singapore’s newest Christmas event.
A Universal Christmas
Universal Studios Singapore’s Christmas event runs from 1 December 2017 to 1 January 2018, with park hours from 10:00AM to 9:00PM (except on 31 Dec 2017 – the park will open till 11:30PM). Most rides and shows will have extended operating hours.
Christmas shows and attractions are open to all park guests, as well as USS Annual/ Season Passholders. No tickets? You can grab them from Klook online for $68 (Adult)! That is slightly cheaper than the current promotion at USS: Adult Day Passes at $72 (Local Residents) and $76 (Tourists). These tickets are bundled with a $5 retail voucher, good for use with a minimum spend of $35.
Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) will donate S$10 to Community Chest for every USS ticket purchased online through RWS website.
Santa’s Workshop
Headlining this year’s Christmas event is Santa’s Workshop, an all-new interactive experience where you can finally get certified as an elf. The Workshop is open daily from 12:00PM to 8:00PM.
You might realise that Santa’s Workshop looks like a certain mall… for some reason. Anyway, this attraction will accept guests in groups so you may need to wait for your turn to meet Santa’s elves!
To become an elf, you’ll need to interact with the characters, complete some tasks, and get their stamps of approval at the Workshop. Not just dogsbody work.
Remember to sign up outside before heading in!
After meeting the head elf, you’ll get shrunk into “elf size” and your journey really begins.
Not the most efficient mail room…
Luckily toy production is more or less automated…
Presents are quickly wrapped so that elves have time to dance.
Mrs Claus’ Kitchen is open for tours again, and this time you’ll also witness all the crazy orders that children have sent in.
If you love taking portraits, there are some rooms here that you don’t want to miss – mirror hallways filled with fairy lights, and this sparkly ribbon-laden corridor that was once Movie Time Theatres at Southpoint Mall.
And finally, you’ll meet Santa! Have you collected enough stamps in the past rooms to get certified as an honourary elf?
This is an improved and more immersive edition of Santa’s Village (2016). The self-guided tour format, compared to last year’s free-for-all walkabout zone, will offer visitors with ample opportunities for interaction. There are numerous photo opportunity spots around the entire Workshop, so feel free to snap away.
Santa’s Snowy Sleigh Ride
If you’re not ready to become an elf, you can still meet Santa during his Snowy Sleigh Ride. This mini parade starts from Sci-Fi City and ends off at the Tree House Christmas Tree at Hollywood. Performed several times a day – check board in the park for show times!
The parade feels a little sparse, probably because there aren’t enough performers to fill the expansive area in front of the tree. It’s challenging to strike a balance.
World of Stars
Marvel at the enchanting night lights all over New York zone! Stick around the park during the evening who knows – you might be bestowed the honour to flip the switch and illuminate New York.
During the media launch of A Universal Christmas, the first-ever light-up of the World of Stars was witnessed by hundreds of children invited to the park as part of the resort’s annual aRWSome Wishes event.
It’s like Universal Journey without the retina-searing side effects.
Search For A Christmas Star
The search is on for the brightest star among the stars. Come and watch the celebrity ornaments as they sing and dance off to the top.
It’s a rather bizarre show with personalities that are clearly… off the hook. Accompanying the dramatic theatrics are projection effects on the New York library – which are some of the best I’ve seen in the park.
Stay around till the end… for a cute surprise!
Oscar’s Grouchmas Show
The Pantages Hollywood Theater will host yet another Sesame Street stage show this season. Sharing a similar touch as the well-received Halloween show, Oscar’s Grouchmas has a likeable story – Oscar’s idea of Christmas goes terribly wrong… and it’s up to him to fix it.
Even with the arrival of some strange visitors, the holiday spirit gets snubbed (again…)
Not wanting everyone to be grouches, Oscar decides to wake everyone up on Christmas day, bearing surprisingly appropriate gifts from his collection of trash.
Who knew recycling would be so magical?
A Grouch no more – Oscar even has his own unique sleigh!
Other Highlights of A Universal Christmas
In the day, Under The Mistletoe starring Marilyn Monroe and Betty Boop returns to the New York Library stage. Drama, again.
Special Shows and Character Greetings this season
Seasonal programming also extends to other zones of the park, with Mel’s Rockin’ Christmas back at Mel’s Stage (Hollywood), King Julien’s Tropical Christmas Party at Madagascar zone, and Dance for the Magic Christmas Beans show happening at the Milk Bar (Far Far Away), now featuring Humpty Dumpty. You can also meet Beetlejuice at Sting Alley (New York) and other characters decked in festive outfits to complete your Christmas street experience.
Remember to take photos at Santa’s Christmas Tree House, which is a beautiful sight at night!
The archway at the park entrance too!
