Get your first look at the all-new additions at Universal Studios Singapore: Hello Kitty Studio store and Hollywood China Arcade.

On 18 November 2017, Universal Studios Singapore introduced three new additions. First we have Oscar’s Grouchmas Show, which is the seasonal theatre show taking place within Pantages Hollywood Theater. Photos of this show will be published in another article with other A Universal Christmas shows and attractions.

Hello Kitty Studio

She’s here! Get your wallet ready for the next wave of cuteness at the Hello Kitty Studio – now open at Hollywood Boulevard.

There’s a lot of retail items here, far more than previously revealed by Universal Studios Singapore. Most of the items are produced by RWS under license from Sanrio, and they include the words ‘Universal Studios Singapore’ (on the packaging and/or on the item). This means they are specially customised, and likely exclusive to this park.

It’s all Hello Kitty (and variations of her) here. No Dear Daniel, Mimmy, Charmmy Kitty and other members of her family. How do I know all this? Live with my sister long enough.

The first thing you see – Popcorn Bucket (or just ‘Container’). $30.

That’s looks… rather morbid.

The store has two Hello Kitty figurines (and several walls adorned by her signature bows), which makes for highly desirable photo spots.

This store is seamlessly linked to the Universal Studios Store, making your holiday shopping experience an easier one.

Kaching! Hollywood China Arcade has opened its doors!

Some signs of the former restaurant remain – the golden dragon, decorative panels, and that wall fountain at the back. This mighty establishment has fallen from its full-service restaurant days.

Although the arcade does seem a bit small, there’s a wide mix of video games and carnival games here.

I’m not sure which video arcade operator is running this outlet, but the game credits are stored on these plastic cards. They are yours to keep – after all, the park wants you to keep returning! On 19 November 2017, the park has introduced a different multiplier of game credit bonus for off-peak days. The designation of off-peak days is up to the park’s discretion, so check the rates at the Arcade before you reload. At the moment, the prices for each game are still the same for peak and off-peak days.

If you do the math, Passholders should always top up $50 during Off-Peak since it gives you 100% more. Game arcades are addictive, huh?

Most games will reward prize tickets which can be exchanged for items at the Arcade. Some games reward more tickets depending on your score, while others reward a standard number of tickets just for playing. The tickets are stored digitally in the Game Credit Card. And oh, the card expires 1 year from the last time it is used at the Arcade. (Thanks Sin Ngee for the info!)
