What’s new at Universal Studios Singapore? We bring you the scoop.
Well, actually something very old has recently emerged. No, not Halloween Horror Nights. It’s the all-new Mummy film, starring Tom Cruise and Sofia Boutella, in the form of merchandise in the park.
This movie is a reboot with a new character, Princess Ahmanet, as ‘The Mummy’. Universal Studios Singapore’s Ancient Egypt zone is heavily based on the ‘Imhotep’ universe (the Stephen Sommers series). Whether the park will be tweaking this themed zone remains uncertain.
But for now, you can get new The Mummy (2017) merchandise at Carter’s Curosities and Silver Screen Store.
Other summer flicks that have refreshed the park’s retail space: Despicable Me 3 and Transformers: The Last Knight. The Autobots have taken over the Hollywood Store Window – even the space around it.
Across the street at Silver Screen Store: Bumblebee and Optimus figurines to take pictures with.
No additions to the Transformers Supply Vault store, which is pretty much “done” since 2011.
There are some new activities here, though – like this ‘Transforming Toys challenge’. Similar minigames have been conducted around the park without any fanfare – these new activities were experimented around the park for a while now.
If you haven’t got your sweet tooth fix, good news. Chocolate Adventure has been extended till 11 June 2017.
Let’s go back to the Hollywood zone – Notice something different here? We couldn’t say goodbye to the park’s Churro and Memoreel carts. They’re gone now.
Only bare concrete left…
Well, the two of them looked so… normal being next to the Opening Scaremony Stage.
The park has resurfaced the floor where the two carts used to stand. Perhaps this year we could see a much larger stage being built for Halloween Horror Nights and other special events. It looked quite cramped last year when the five Halloween event icons appeared on it.
The flooring around the park’s fountain is also being progressively repaired. The harsh Singapore weather has aged it quite terribly.
Some parts around the park are also being repainted, such as the tracks of Far Far Away’s Enchanted Airways. See how bright the red is at the foreground, compared to the ones behind that’s not repainted yet?
Talking about enchanted – did you know that Universal Studios Hollywood saw an increase of 13.9% in attendance for the past year, after opening their Wizarding World of Harry Potter last April?
Over at Sci-Fi City: Galactica PX has been reconfigured into a Park Membership registration lobby – so if the queues at Hollywood zone’s Membership Lobby is too long, you might want to try here.
You can still buy Battlestar Galactica roller-coaster on-ride photos here, but the BSG merch is all gone.
At least the roller coasters are consistently dueling now.
School’s out for summer, so don’t be shocked to see crowds and lines everywhere during the weekends. If you’re lucky, you might be able to catch A Date with Marilyn, a new show at the steps of New York Public Library.
The crowds can get quite crazy, even Amber Rock Climb, an attraction that usually quiet, had long lines.
Got to applaud these park guests for wanting to break out a sweat when it’s already (too) hot and humid.
At Jurassic Park, another cart has gone on holiday: Popcornasaurus. You can still buy drinks and ice-cream at the smaller, mobile cart.
And now for Halloween Horror Nights 7. Auditions are happening now, and you can read about it here! Works have also commenced at the park’s backstage areas.Subscribe to dejiki.com or Like my Facebook page for notifications of updates:
