Southeast Asia’s premier gaming convention, GameStart, is back for its third year! Check out some highlights from this year’s event!
With a greater variety of activities and the return of fan favourites, this year’s GameStart will thrill all sorts of gaming enthusiasts.
Rika Lee opened Gamestart with Somnus, a theme song from Final Fantasy XV.
You won’t miss Xbox‘s massive booth. This is the first time Xbox is at GameStart, and several partners have lent their support in showcasing the Xbox Anywhere concept. There’s a very beautiful desktop here – the Omen X by HP.
Nothing but serious demo players at the Xbox booth.
The PlayStation booth isn’t focused on game demos this year, but instead will host the Southeast Asia Major (SEAM), one of Asia’s largest fighting game tournaments.
Tournaments at GameStart will include Street Fighter V, Guilty Gear Xrd:Revelator, BlazBlue: Central Fiction, Tekken 7, King of Fighter XIV, and Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3.
Masquerada, produced by Singapore-based developer Witching Hour Studios, is present at GameStart. Support local games! You can grab a beautiful poster here for $20.
Squeese into Bandai-Namco Entertainment Asia‘s booth for several game demos and previews, including Rise of the Tomb Raider: Blood Ties VR. You can try out the Playstation VR here too.
One of the most popular demos exhibited is Final Fantasy XV. Both Xbox One and PS4 versions are available at GameStart. PS4 booths are at Toy or Game‘s (TOG) booth.
Feel like shopping? You can grab the new PS4 Slim or the Xbox One (Original 1TB) at a discount at the TOG booth too.
It’s #throwback memories at NAJ Arcade booth. These cute, wooden game cabinets are running retro games.
The Quest is a new activity that all GameStart visitors can enjoy – presented by local gaming peripheral company Armaggeddon. Get stamps from specific booths at the convention and you will stand a chance to win great prizes. Don’t forget to grab the Quest card when you enter the hall!
The booth babes are like some rare Pokémon – but you can definitely meet some at these booths: MSI, Monster, Armageddon. And not forgetting Alyse (version 3).
Need a good chair for those long gaming sessions? Secretlab is offering great deals at GameStart, including 50% off the first 5 customers each day – which you can expect some mad dash happening.
You can try your luck to win a new throne by taking part in the Secretlab Grand Prix, an astonishing chair race event. All contenders must wear covered shoes… and perhaps should be adept in chair-racing before signing up for this.

New to GameStart this year is Doujin Market, where some 24 artists are showcasing and selling their work.
All sorts of cute fan art you can buy – in prints, pins, and keychains, among many others.
Retro DNA is back, with a lot of memorable titles in the sale section as well. Dance Dance Revolution for PS2, anyone?
Lastly, don’t miss the stunning Kinetiquette version of Alyse!
