Another popular cafe in the Omote-sando district in Tokyo is the LATTEST Omotesando Espresso Bar. Just a short walk away from OMOTESANDO KOFFEE, this spacious cafe is welcoming and laid back – perfect after a walk along the busy main street of Omote-sando.
I went to LATTEST after resting for a while at OMOTESANDO KOFFEE. I only had one day to do a lot of things, so each “hop” was like 20 minutes, tops.
Seems like my spontaneous visit happened at the right time. The cafe was quiet – with only 2 other patrons. It reflected that quite late morning atmosphere on the streets.
LATTEST is a sister of the famed Streamer Coffee Company (homeground of Hiroshi Sawada, world latte art champion).
I’ve not been to Streamer, but apparently the two places are somewhat similar, except that LATTEST is supposed to have an all-female barista crew. Something that I must say is unfortunately not true during my visit. But anyway..
The menu’s pasted outside. Lattest (their triple ristretto shot) start from ¥420 (~S$5.00)
The large communal table in the middle of the cafe. A highlight, especially during pop-up events and sales. During such lull periods however, it’s just a majestic centerpiece for that industrial-chic aesthetic.
The decor is simple, but also interesting. Take these hanging plants, for example. (I should’ve bought a mug from here…)
You’ll often see this “LIFE” poster pop up on Instagram photos taken at this venue.
Also, don’t miss the twin cold brew drip towers at the corner.
What did I order? An Iced Hazelnut Latte. To balance the Baileys Cappuccino I had earlier.
Another ten minutes here, and I was off to continue my walkabout.
