Recruits, assemble! Step inside the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and be part of a combat support network for the Avengers at the MARVEL’S AVENGERS S.T.A.T.I.O.N. exhibition presented by Science Centre Singapore.
The immersive exhibition made its debut in New York City in 2014 and has since toured Seoul, Paris and Las Vegas. The Singapore edition is the largest one yet and includes never-before-seen exhibits from MCU films such as Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man which premiered just last year!
Before beginning your training at the S.T.A.T.I.O.N. (Scientific Training and Tactical Intelligence Operative Network), you’d want to download the accompanying mobile app training device (available on iOS App Store and Google Play Store), create your profile and start documenting each stage of your training!
Here we go.
From Skinny Steve to Super Soldier
In the first stage of your training, learn how the sickly Steve Rogers was transformed into Captain America through the Super Soldier program under the Strategic Scientific Reserve (WWII predecessor of S.H.I.E.L.D.).
Before you think that’s a lot of information to take in, you can also view original props and costumes from the films, and even test out Captain America’s vibranium shield!
This suit is from the first Avengers movie.
Which Captain America uniform is your favourite?
Did you know that it took all of the vibranium the US had at the time to forge this shield?
If you’re wondering just how strong the Captain is, see how you measure up through a series of high performance tests which compares your cognitive reflexes, grip strength and endurance against the Cap’s.
The red line on top is the Cap’s grip strength! Ours is the yellow line (far far) below.
We will need more training!
Or perhaps a little dose of gamma radiation for an instant boost? Luckily, Dr Banner’s lab is just next door…
While attempting to recreate the Super Soldier serum which created Captain America, Dr Bruce Banner accidentally transformed himself into the Hulk.
Inside Dr Banner’s bio-lab, you can interact with the Hulk (try not to rile him up, if you can) and go through experimental data to find out what turned him green.
This was also on an examination table in the lab. Can you tell who/what it is?
Next, hop over to the Spectrometry Bay and study the Tesseract portal device, but resist the urge to reopen the portal! You’ll never know who or what’s at the other end…
You can also get up close to the super suits of the Avengers, including Hawkeye, Black Widow, the Falcon, and its newest member Ant-Man!
Look closely for Ant-thony and friends too!
Fans of the MCU may also be familiar with this piece of alien tech (or Item 47). Other “enemy” artefacts are also on display in the Containment Room!
This is the first time where Loki’s costume is on display! It was uncharacteristically kind of him to send it to us all the way across the Bifrost, don’t you think?
Over at Thor’s Observatory, peer into the galaxy, visit faraway planets and discover the Asgardian world which Thor calls home.
And it seems like Thor has left his trusty Mjölnir behind!
We saw many fellow (but nevertheless mortal) recruits attempt to lift Mjölnir but were deemed unworthy. How about you?
In the final stage of your training, step inside Tony Stark’s Advanced Engineering Bay and try not to break anything (as per Mr Stark’s instructions).
On display in the Hall of Armour are Tony’s collection of Iron Man’s MK I to VII suits! House Party Protocol, anyone?
No Iron Man exhibit would be complete without Iron Patriot War Machine!
Easily one of the grandest display at the exhibition is this three-metre tall Hulkbuster armour!
While we weren’t able to step inside the suits physically, you can complete your battle simulation assessment and defeat waves of Ultron-controlled Iron Legion via augmented reality.
Congratulations, you have completed the S.T.A.T.I.O.N. agent training protocol and promoted to official agent status!
Your adventure does not end here.
Always be ready as you will be contacted by S.T.A.T.I.O.N. and The Avengers Corps whenever the Earth is under threat and the Avengers need your help.
You can access your digital Agent ID card via the mobile training device / app, as well as an Agent Certification.
For those who prefer physical copies, you can purchase them at the booths outside the exhibition too!
Personalised ID cards – $12 / $18 (with lanyard)
Agent Certificate – $10
Avengers photo / Collage photo – $15 each
Full package with commemorative folio – $45
Lastly, flaunt your newly acquired S.T.A.T.I.O.N. Agent status with some new uniforms and gear from the merchandise shop.
Or as the Captain would say, “Suit up!”
