Dive into the first-ever Hangyodon-themed adventure at the Singapore Oceanarium’s Hangyodon Marine Discovery, in celebration of the iconic Sanrio character’s 40th Anniversary!

Singapore Oceanarium is hosting the largest Hangyodon-themed immersive experience in Southeast Asia, celebrating the cheerful Sanrio character’s 40th anniversary. Running from 28 Nov 2025 to 4 January 2026, the Hangyodon Marine Discovery blends discovery and education into a playful ocean journey.

Mr Kohei Imai (Chief Operating Officer, Sanrio SEA) with Ms Lam Xue Ying (Head of Singapore Oceanarium)
This marks a major collaboration with Sanrio and Singapore Oceanarium, while also being the Oceanarium’s first major overlay since its opening this year. It is also the debut of the Hangyodon mascot in Singapore!
During the event period, you can join Hangyodon, the lovable half-fishman, and his best friend, Sayuri the octopus, on their very first adventure in Singapore. Along the way, the Singapore Oceanarium’s zones are transformed with immersive installations and interactive panels. This is where you’ll discover inspiring stories about marine conservation, re-encounter fascinating marine animals, and learn about the impact of marine pollution on marine life and humans. With all Hangyodon exhibits available without additional charge, this is essentially a bonus experience “for free” if you’ve already got your tickets to the Oceanarium!

Photo Tour: Hangyodon Marine Discovery at Singapore Oceanarium
Prepare your cameras when you visit! The Hangyodon event is like a “takeover”, turning the Singapore Oceanarium into a playful escape with photo points to be discovered. But first: the eye-catching, 5.5-metre tall Inflatable Giant Hangyodon welcomes you at the Entrance Plaza!
Over at the Spirit of Exploration zone, you can find the sculptures of Hangyodon and Sayuri, which forms a beautiful scene and photo op. You can also flip the panels of the beach scene behind them, to learn more about marine life!
As you continue your journey around the Oceanarium, don’t miss these installations and panels scattered all over, starting from Singapore’s Coast.
This gigantic bubble lightbox at end of Shark Seas.
And you can walk around it and see… Hangyodon’s back! Haha!
This coral-themed display beside the Coral Garden.
In between the Reef Animals and Kelp Forest area. Then they vanish for a while around the Open Ocean and Ocean Dome – so you can focus on the real marine animals.
Towards Ocean Currents and Migrators, you’ll see these exhibits on the importance of keeping the oceans clean.
Over at Artificial Habitats, you can learn about various kinds of corals in this pillar exhibit.
Moving on – Hangyodon can be easily missed as you explore the Abyss zones. Keep a look out before the Life in the Deep and Whalefall areas!
Lastly, you can find the last few appearances at Ocean’s Future and the Hallway of Hope.
Hangyodon will also lead you to exhibits and interactive stations where you can learn more about marine conservation.

I didn’t get to go on the programme which includes a tour of some back-of-house areas where you could see and learn how corals are propagated, but the Marine Educators brought out some coral samples to see and touch.
