The new Universal Studios Singapore Ticket and Annual Pass Prices

DSC09238

Universal Studios Singapore recently revamped its admission ticket structure and annual pass programme. Here is an overview of the new changes in November 2012.

2018 Update

A new 2018 guide is now published for the 2018 Annual Pass programme. Read it now here.

Original Article (as of 2013)

1/9/2013: New information on the new Season Pass is now added, along with details on Universal Express Unlimited.

30/3/2013: The USS Annual Pass has been consolidated into the new 2013 RWS Attractions Pass programme. Prices and benefits remain the same, but the card has been redesigned. For more details, refer to this park update.

11/2012: The confirmed list of new USS Annual Pass benefits has been added.

Revamped: Admission Tickets

With effect from 16/11/2012, these are the new admission prices:

One Day Pass:
$74 – Adult (Ages 13-59)
$54 – Child (Ages 4-12)
$36 – Senior (Ages 60 and above)

Two Day Pass:
$118 – Adult (Ages 13-59)
$88 – Child (Ages 4-12)
$58 – Senior (Ages 60 and above)

Universal Express Pass:
$50 – Peak Days
$30 – Off-Peak Days

Universal Express Unlimited Pass:
$70 – Peak Days
$50 – Off-Peak Days

Notice how clean the pricing structure is? The park has removed the peak and blackout date calendar. It was very confusing back in 2010 (4 types of dates to comprehend)! Admission tickets now cost the same all year, and should be undated (valid for any day within the period stated on the tickets). Therefore the park will no longer need to publish the Universal Studios Singapore 2013 calendar anymore.

The Universal Express passes will still follow a peak/off-peak calendar and go for $50 and $30 each . The new calendar for Express Pass prices has yet to be announced, but all dates from now till 1st Jan 2013 fall under the $50 category.

UPDATE: Universal Express Unlimited

From Mid 2013 onwards, the Universal Express Unlimited Pass was made available. This allows a day’s unlimited use of Universal Express and is non-transferrable.

Here’s a chart depicting major changes in admission ticketing since soft opening in 2010:

New Annual Pass programme

The Annual Pass revamp is seen as a major surprise, according to some passholders I’ve talked to. The USS Annual Pass now starts from $188 for adults ($158 for children and seniors). The three-tier programme with fancy names has been replaced with just “Annual Pass” (yes, it’s called Annual Pass) with a $100 add-on for Universal Express access. You might want to see this post for details of the previous programme

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I bought my Annual Pass. Why is it valid for only 6 months?

A: That is the validity of the temporary pass (paper ticket or print at home ticket) used to enter the park. You have to enter the park and register to create the actual annual pass, which is a plastic card. This card is valid for a year from date of registration.

Q: I am currently an Annual Passholder with Superstar Pass. What’s going to happen?

A: You can continue to enjoy benefits entitled to Superstar Pass until its expiry. If you renew your Annual Pass (to Annual Pass with Universal Express), then you are entitled to the new benefits (and no longer entitled to the original Superstar Pass benefits, of course).

Q: I am currently an Annual Passholder with Action Pass. What’s going to happen?

A: From 1st December 2012 onwards, the Action Pass will effectively become the new Standard Annual Pass. You can enjoy the new benefits without upgrading or changing your Annual Pass card.

Q: I am currently an Annual Passholder with Fun Pass. What’s going to happen?

A: From 1st December 2012 onwards, the Fun Pass will effectively become the new Standard Annual Pass. The Fun Pass can now be used to access the park even on the previously stated black-out dates. You can enjoy the new benefits without upgrading or changing your Annual Pass card.

Q: Can I borrow someone’s Annual Pass to enter the park?

A: No, it is not transferable and each Annual Pass has the Passholder’s name and photograph printed on it. The entrance crew has the right to refuse admission if the credentials do not match up.

Q: How do I get an Annual Pass?

A: You will need to pay for the full price of the Annual Pass at the park entrance, then proceed to the Annual Pass office with your temporary ticket. After the registration process in the office, you will receive your welcome gift and the actual Annual Pass card. Alternatively, if you have a day ticket and wish to upgrade, see the next question.

Q: Can I upgrade my normal day ticket to an Annual Pass?

A: Yes, simply visit the Annual Pass office and pay the difference to upgrade to an Annual Pass. However, do note that some promotional tickets, like complimentary passes, may not be upgraded to an Annual Pass. For confirmation, please ask at the Annual Pass office.

Q: Is there a “Family” Annual Pass?

A: All Annual Passes are designed for personal use only. You will need to buy separate passes for each family member.

Q: What are main differences between the Annual Pass with Universal Express and standard Annual Pass?

A: The main benefits of Annual Pass with Universal Express: Unlimited Universal Express access.

Q: Can I use my Annual Pass with Universal Express and bring a friend with me to use the Express line?

A: No, the Unlimited Express is for Annual Pass with Universal Express and Superstar Pass only. Your friend will need to buy their own Express passes.

Q: Which are the least-crowded days of the week to visit?

A: During an off-peak season, the usual good days are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday. Peak periods are usually in Late May ~ June and Late November ~ December period (School Holidays) and around public holidays. Of course, there are some unforeseen events, such as family days or foreign public holidays or similar events that do not show up on the park’s monthly calendar.

Q: What is the difference between the Annual Pass with Universal Express and Universal Express Pass?

A: Universal Express Pass is an add-on to day passes and the standard Annual Passes. It offers guests priority access to attractions. Each pass can only be used once per attraction. The new Annual Pass with Universal Express offers unlimited use of Universal Express.

Q: What is this “VIP Turnstile”?

A: The VIP Turnstile is located at the left end of the entrance gateway to the park. It is for Annual Passholders and rather possibly, VIP Tour guests. It is only available in the first three hours after the park opens. Usually there is no queue at this turnstile, which is a godsend to Annual Passholders – The regular turnstiles sometimes have lines leading up to the Universal Globe!

If you have any other questions do post in the comments and I will try to find the answer for you

The eventual discontinuation of Fun Pass is expected, but the sharp drop in price, is not. It’s scary how fast this move happened for a park that opened for just 2.5 years. Then again, this will be a big draw for new passholders and potential day-pass converts as the new price is very accessible (especially for families). The park can also grow a larger pool of regulars. To make up for the shortfall with the new reduced price, food and merchandise prices could go up (it already has, anyway).

With Annual Pass prices so low, it is likely that some passholder benefits from the old programme would be discontinued.

And just when you thought that the Action Pass becoming the basic Annual Pass was a big discount, the Superstar Pass replacement, Annual Pass with Universal Express, is just a fire sale.

Other thoughts

With a difference of $100, it seems to tempt passholders from settling for the standard Annual Pass without Express. I have checked with the Annual Pass office, and this $288 Annual Pass has the same Unlimited Universal Express perk as the existing Superstar Pass. Not sure if this is wise – imagine throngs of Annual Passholders dominating the Universal Express queue lanes. This has happened before during openings of new attractions.

Then, it’s no longer “Express”. The beauty of the current situation is that guests with Express Passes or Superstar Passes get very quick access to attractions – with an extremely short wait that is rare, or inexistent at major theme parks worldwide. It is unique to Universal Studios Singapore. Annual Passholders have nothing to lose, except a longer wait than usual in the Express lanes. But what about other guests who paid $30/$50 for Express Passes?

Of course, the park can cut this Unlimited Express benefit to once a day, or even worse: limit it to certain hours each day. Please don’t do this. That is sure to upset some passholders who are used to frequent and quick access to the Express lane – especially those who have been supporting the Superstar Pass since 2010 (at a hefty price of $1098). Some passholders have already told me that they are having second thoughts of renewing because the new programme, while friendlier to their wallets, presents severe shortchanges on the premium park experience – which was what attracted them to sign up for at the very first place.

The simplification of Annual Passes programme and significant price drop also suggests the following assumptions:

  1. Unlimited Universal Express access is important to Passholders, so it has to stay.
  2. No other feature to create strong differentiation across different tiers of Annual Passes.
  3. Gather more regulars first, worry about Express lane capacity issues later.
  4. The park is experiencing lower than expected attendance, so capacity concerns are not an issue.
  5. More guests using Universal Express lane could mean longer wait times for the normal line. This might encourage other guests to buy Express Passes.
  6. Focus on low cost as major draw for guests to return to the park, as opposed to having new attractions, events and shows (which are costlier to implement)
  7. Consolidation of other Annual Pass programmes in RWS (S.E.A. Aquarium and Adventure Cove Waterpark). Pragmatic standardization across all attractions to prevent guests from getting confused. This can also be observed by how Annual Pass rates for both Child and Seniors are the same across all three attractions.

Edit 20/11/2012: It also causes problems for current Annual Passholders. Suppose the Superstar Pass will keep its “Unlimited Express” benefit. What will happen to the rest, which are more expensive than the new Annual Pass? Instant Upgrade to the new Annual Pass with Universal Express? For Fun Pass – does it mean no more black-out dates to match the basic tier of the new Annual Passes? If yes, then that just slams Action Pass holders. Don’t even talk about Superstar Pass holders.

The easy solution now is to bump the price of the $288 Annual Pass. Otherwise frankly, I’d feel that I’m being ripped off if I’m an ordinary “one-day guest” and spent $50 on an Express Pass.

I’ve always thought that the previous programme (Fun/Action/Superstar tiers) was well-thought, and a $50-100 reduction across the board would’ve been enough for the park to stay competitive and attractive for renewals and new sign-ups. Apparently the park is much bolder than I’ve imagined.

The new Annual Pass programme has soft launched and the park is still finalizing the new terms and conditions for the revamped Annual Pass programme. More information will be added to this entry as they are available.

IN SHOCK. USS is already soooo crowded and with such low prices for annual passes it’s gonna be just havoc. AND the value of our SSAP just depreciated by three folds? Don’t know whether to laugh or cry now. >:/

  2. Gregor November 17, 2012 at 11:00 pm #

Wow, this is bringing a whole new definition to slashing prices. I am going to conclude that this is too good to be true, and I’d like to see what USS comes up with. Right now the “strings” haven’t been revealed yet, bu I completely agree with Dejiki, and I am expecting a watered down package to be released soon. I wonder if this is a move of desperation, or one to limit the powers of Superstar Pass holders, such that they are made to buy Universal Express and end up paying over and above the current $638 price tag.

    • USS August 12, 2015 at 7:19 pm #

Yes its may be a big drop but will u guys keep on paying that high prices for many yrs to come? Dont forget u are only having an annual pass not a VIP membership that will go on forever. In the long run if u want to renew for membership, this will be good news for u too.
to the theme park, they would not only want people to go there n play rides but also to spend over there. when members go there, they can bring up the sales around the area. restaurants etc.
i had long wanted to be a member at 300++ but the blackout dates pulled me back. Now i’m a member

  3. Marcus November 17, 2012 at 11:37 pm #

I’m shocked at the sudden drop in price. I’m an action pass holder, wonder if there’s any benefit for current annual pass holder. I’ve paid more than the current price of the annual pass with universal express. Will USS do something to compensate us?

    • Dejiki November 17, 2012 at 11:56 pm #

      Hi Marcus,

There is no news about how the park will handle existing Annual Passholders. They did not even inform about the new programme. Frankly, they should have gathered opinions from existing passholders before implementing such a major revamp.

      • Michelle October 9, 2015 at 6:34 am #

Hi I am wondering if I could buy my season pass at USS itself or do I have to get the paper ticket online first?

        • Dejiki October 9, 2015 at 6:55 am #

You can buy it at the park.

          • Sabrina November 30, 2016 at 12:52 am #

Hi. I’ve been surfing on the internet trying to find out whether i could buy a season pass directly at the park? Season pass is for everyone right? Because i am indonesian who is currently studying in johor

            • Dejiki December 4, 2016 at 12:46 pm #

Yes you can buy it at the park. Show your student pass to get a discounted rate.

  4. Michael November 18, 2012 at 5:13 am #

    Hi dejiki,

As a superstar pass holder for 2 years, I felt extremely cheated by them from prices $1098 to $618 and now to $288… Its a really big change and Im also disappointed in them, so what does the current annual pass holders get from them if we want to renew our annual passes? I guess they will just deduct $20 or $30 off to original price. As for the one-day admission ticket, yes its much more better now but utterly digusted by what they did to their superstar pass price. Ridiculous

  5. Giselle November 19, 2012 at 4:34 pm #

Totally agree! I am so upset and its like HHN all over again but WORST. I just feel that USS should focus more on creating a better experience for their park visitors instead of scheming to roll in more dough??

  6. Joe November 26, 2012 at 8:27 pm #

Annual passes at our Australian Gold Coast theme parks are now down under $100/year, including entry to special events. On my recent trip to Singapore I’d been warned about how crowded Universal Studios got, but I found this was not the case at all. For theme parks, it’s really all about keeping the crowds packed in, even at a lower yield. Then people spend money on food, drinks & souvenirs. You guys have a relatively small population, and even with SE Asian visitors, or people like me who can fly cheaply from Australia, the draw of Universal Singapore is not infinite. In the US they have 250 million + people planning visits to Disney & Universal, many of which can drive in cars. But you don’t quite have those numbers right now over this side of the world. This reduction in pricing was inevitable.

  7. Gilaone December 2, 2012 at 12:51 pm #

Did I miss out something. I try to book for the Annual Pass today and surprised to find that the Annual pass only valid for 6 Months!

    • Dejiki December 2, 2012 at 1:08 pm #

When you buy an annual pass, whether online or on-site, you are actually buying a “voucher” ticket. This voucher is used to enter the park during your first visit. After that you will exchange it for the actual annual pass card (valid for a year).

So basically, this Annual Pass voucher is valid for 6 months.

      • Gilaone December 2, 2012 at 1:43 pm #

        Thanks Dejiki for the clarification!

  8. AJ December 14, 2012 at 10:04 am #

    Hello Dejiki

Great updates about USS! A really job well done. I’ll be visiting Singapore in June 2013, and well, USS is a must-go for me and my family. I want to know if the express pass holders will be prioritised during queues as opposed to normal ticket holders?
And also, if possible, could you take photos of the shops and merchandises, perhaps with their prices? I’ve seen some of the merchandises and I’m pretty sure I will be buying a lot, just that I don’t know how much money I should bring there. This will greatly help my budget allocation.

    • Dejiki December 14, 2012 at 10:10 am #

      Hi AJ,

Usually guests at the Universal Express lane will be able to board ride vehicles or enter show buildings first. However there are some exceptions (e.g: If the normal queue is very long, the crew will alternate between normal and express queue). Nonetheless, Express Passholders will experience a shorter wait time at all attractions in most scenarios.

It is challenging to document all the merchandise available (plus item availability and prices change all the time!) but I have plans for an entry covering all the stores in USS. Perhaps you can let me know what merchandise you’re interested in, and I’ll find out the prices for you. 🙂

  9. Maisarah December 17, 2012 at 11:38 pm #

Hi, for the annual pass express, can we take the rides as many times using the express lane or just once?

Hope to hear your clarification soon! 🙂

    • Dejiki December 17, 2012 at 11:45 pm #

      Hi Maisarah,

Annual Pass with Universal Express passholders are entitled to unlimited access to Universal Express lane, during normal park hours only. Hope this helps!

      • Belle December 28, 2012 at 1:43 am #

Thanks for your great updates! I was wondering, does the new regular Annual Pass come with any express rides? Or is it wholly normal queue only? Tks lots!

        • Dejiki December 28, 2012 at 10:39 am #

          Hi Belle,

The regular Annual Pass does not entitle access to Universal Express lane for the park’s attractions. However, you may purchase Express Passes as a separate add-on when needed. It might be more suitable to your needs if you visit the park during off-peak periods – wait times are very short and Universal Express is not necessary.

  10. Ng Sor Khim December 31, 2012 at 11:32 am #

When I exchange the annual pass with the voucher I bought online, what will be the validity of the annual pass? Will it start from the day I buy the voucher or the day I exchange for the annual pass at the Universal Studios ?

    • Dejiki December 31, 2012 at 11:38 am #

Your annual pass will be valid from the day you exchange for the annual pass at the park, which is also your first visit to the park using the annual pass voucher.

  11. Gayan December 31, 2012 at 9:09 pm #

    Hi,

I’m planning to visit USS in March 2013 and wish to know if this time is a more crowded period at USS..?? also according to new rates…how can I know what are the Peak Days & Off Peak Days for Express Pass

    • Dejiki December 31, 2012 at 9:30 pm #

      Hi Gayan,

Be aware of the week of school holidays during March 2013, which will be the park’s busiest days in March (From Saturday 16th March to Sunday 24th March). There is also a public holiday (Good Friday) on 29 March.

      Peak Days for Express Pass in March* are: 2, 9, 11, 15, 16, 22, 23, 28, 29, 30.
*These may not be all the Peak dates.

The park may also add/remove dates on their discretion, without informing guests.

        God Bless You…
        Regards
        Gayan

        • Dejiki January 1, 2013 at 2:19 pm #

          Hi Gayan,

I’m only very familiar with attractions at Sentosa, as I’ve only been to the Zoo and Bird Park 3 times.

D1 – Should be ok. Since you are at Marina Bay Sands, you may consider Gardens by the Bay ($28 to visit the two conservatory domes there) which also has several outdoor gardens to walk around (free admission to outdoor gardens).

D2 – I feel that it’s very rushed if you do so many things. If you go to Gardens by the Bay on D1, you may give Botanical Gardens a miss. I would suggest focusing on Bird Park in the morning, then go to Zoo in the afternoon and add Night Safari at night if you wish. There are 2-in-1 and 3-in-1 tickets for these three attractions. Anyway, the shops at Orchard Road close around 8pm+ so you might not be able to see much unless you just want to walk around. I would suggest that you go to Orchard in later days, after visiting attractions at RWS.

D3 – Suggest that you keep your plans flexible and watch for weather forecast. There was always rain in the afternoon for the past two months (may change in March). In the event of bad weather, almost ALL attractions at Adventure Cove Waterpark will be closed. Maybe you can go to Adventure Cove Waterpark first, then S.E.A Aquarium after (or in case of rain). Anyway the tickets are good for one entire day, so you can hop between both attractions in the same day. Both attractions open until 10am~7pm, but in my opinion, if you go at 10am, you can be done by 4-5pm. You might want to visit Orchard Road then, if it is convenient for you.

D4 – One day should be enough at Universal Studios Singapore. Be there early (10am) so that you can leave early for shopping and more sightseeing in the city.

D5 – Shopping really depends what you are looking for in Singapore. Most people would go to Orchard, Bugis, City Hall, Marina Bay, Chinatown, Little India etc, each district has a focus on certain types of goods.

Try and check with your hotel if they have bus services to Bird Park and Zoo. Those attractions are not as easy to access as the rest as there is no direct train service (you will need to switch to a bus).

            Dear Dejiki,
Thanks a lot for your great help…will amend the plan as you suggested, with consultation with other s in our group….Thanks again…!

one more question…. I m making the visit with my family [wife & 2 children 2y & 5Y boys] was thinking of Hotels at Geylan [low cost] hence both children are too little to understand the Red light enviornment, I hope it would not be an issue to chose geylan…??? whats your idea over it…/?? and is it difficult/possible to reach Sentosa, Marina, Flyer etc etc from Geylan…???

            Regards
            Gayan

            • Dejiki January 2, 2013 at 5:35 pm #

              Hi Gayan,

Unfortunately I have no first-hand experience with hotels in that area, though personally I would prefer not to stay there and would choose a Hotel at Lavender area instead. For Geylang district, the nearest MRT would be Aljunied or Kallang.

From Aljunied/Kallang MRT, there are two ways to get to Marina Bay area (Gardens by the Bay, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore Flyer):

              A) You can take MRT down to City Hall (East-West Line), then walk through City Link Mall to Esplanade Station (Circle Line) and take the train down to Promenade Station (Circle Line). This is nearest to Singapore Flyer. From Promenade station, you can take the train to station to Bay Front station for Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay etc.

              B) You can take MRT to Paya Lebar station, switch over to Circle Line directly and take the train down to Promenade and Bay Front stations.

The most direct way to get to Sentosa (Universal Studios Singapore, Marine Life Park, Imbiah Lookout):

              1. Take a train to Outram Park (East-West Line) and transfer to the North-East Line platform. Take the train towards Harbourfront.

              2. From Harbourfront, you have a few choices:
              – Walk to Resorts World Sentosa via Sentosa Boardwalk ($1 per person)
              – Take RWS8 bus ($2 per person) *Bus will stop at RWS Basement level. Take escalator up to RWS attractions
              – Take Sentosa Express Monorail ($3.30 per person) *Drop off at Waterfront station for RWS attractions

    Hi Dejiki,

Nice info from u.. I’ve checked the USS calender event 2013 by searching on google n I found ur blog.

I already bought the admission ticket from travel agent in jakarta on nov 2012, for visit plan on Jan 2013 (date on non peak season) when I bought the ticket, the travel agent attached a letter from RWS mnagement n the letter should I bring when I go to USS..

The letter content is, the RWS mngment told in 2013 the admission ticket will same all year.. However they extend validity period of my current non peak admission ticket until expiry the tickets. Last order the non peak ticket was on 16th Nov 2012.

I hope there’s no problem with my non peak season ticket when I go to USS 2 weeks later.. While the new price from USS.

    • Dejiki January 1, 2013 at 2:30 pm #

      Hi Inez,

As the park has discontinued seasonal pricing structure and calendar for all tickets, your tickets will be valid for your visit in January 2013. There shouldn’t be a problem, but bring the letter along, just in case.

Above raters are Singapore $ or US $…????

    • Dejiki January 2, 2013 at 4:59 pm #

All the rates are in Singapore Dollars.

    Hi Dejiki,

Your review is really very useful. I’m glad to have found this post as I was really shocked about the AP price drop and was wondering if this was too good to be true. Anyways, I’ve immediately bought the AP with Express pass. Hopefully, I’d be able to give some “insider” knowledge to what’s gonna happen in the following months. Cheers!

  15. XH January 8, 2013 at 10:52 am #

    Hi Dejiki

Thanks for your updates! I’m planning to get an annual pass for the first time. If i buy from online, when i’m there on the actual day, i will still need to go to the counter to exchange for the pass is it? Is there any dedicated annual pass counters? If there is then i don’t think i will need to get online; i am just worried about the queue…

    Regards
    XH

    • Dejiki January 8, 2013 at 11:00 am #

Hi XH, to answer your questions and clarify some other things:

The queue, if any, will be at the point of purchase at USS ticketing counters. If you buy online, you can bypass the queues at the park entrance’s ticketing counters, of course.

When you buy an Annual Pass, you actually obtain a “voucher ticket” (not the actual Annual Pass card) that is used to enter the park for the first time. This voucher is valid for 6 months from point of purchase.

Whether you buy online or on-site, you will need to visit the park with the “voucher ticket” to register and activate your Annual Pass. That is when your 365 days of validity will begin.
There is a special gantry at the park gates for Annual Pass, as well as a lobby dedicated for Annual Pass processing (air-conditioned too).

      Hope this helps!

      • XH January 8, 2013 at 11:11 am #

        Hi hi

Thank you so much! This makes much more sense!

  16. NNN January 24, 2013 at 6:23 pm #

If i purchase an annual pass, would that mean i could go USS daily or there is a limit number of visit per month/per year? Thanks in advance for the info! 🙂

    • Dejiki January 26, 2013 at 9:55 am #

      Hi there,

There are no limits for number of visits for Annual Pass. However, the Annual Pass can only be used for normal days and not for separately-ticketed events such Halloween Horror Nights (or when the park is open at night for special private events).

      • NNN January 31, 2013 at 3:32 pm #

Aites! You’ve been very helpful and very prompt and detailed on the reply. Have a great day and year ahead! CHEERS! 🙂

  17. AK February 20, 2013 at 8:21 pm #

    Hi Dejiki
Your replies are quite impressive and helpful. Need to check what could be the best way for me to go USS. I am on employment pass and my parents came here to visit.
I am thinking to go for Annual Pass but not sure how it will benefit my parents visit to USS apart from 10% discount on their day ticket purchase.

Annual pass is for normal operating hours, what does that mean? Are there other operating hours also (or it means private gatherings?)

And also I am planning to go on 23 or 24 Fbruary, would it be considered as peak and crowded on these days?

    Many thanks in advance.

    • Dejiki February 20, 2013 at 9:01 pm #

      Hi AK,

Annual Passes can only be used for the park’s normal hours, such as 10am~7pm (Sundays to Fridays) or 10am~8pm (Saturdays). This means that it cannot be used when entry to the park requires separate admission from a one-day pass. Examples include Halloween Horror Nights (in October), special events and private events.

23 February is a Peak day at the park. Saturdays are usually the most crowded day of the week. 24 Feb (Sunday) should be less crowded.

  18. Russell February 27, 2013 at 7:56 pm #

Hello! If I purchase for a annual pass, and I’m not using them, can any of my family members use it? Thanks for the useful infos above btw~ 🙂

    • Dejiki February 28, 2013 at 8:19 am #

You may only transfer an unused Annual Pass meaning:

      – You have purchased an Annual Pass online, or outside the park and it is still in the “ticket” form (known as the “voucher”)
      – The Annual Pass “voucher” has not been scanned at the park entrance for admission into USS.
      – You have not made a personalized Annual Pass card yet.

Annual Passes are not transferable once they are used to enter USS or made into the final card.

  19. Min March 8, 2013 at 1:59 pm #

I have two 1-day adult peak USS tickets from RWS invites. I’m thinking of visiting USS on 30 March, a Saturday, but my fear is that they will run out of tickets that day.

Also, are weekend tickets priced the same as weekday tickets @ $74? I would like to know if the 15% savings by using mastercard for payment still stand.

    Thank you!

    • Dejiki March 8, 2013 at 3:17 pm #

      Hi Min,

The park has been operating with a high capacity limit since Late 2010. Frankly, I have not heard of the park stopping the sale of day tickets because it has reached maximum capacity, because it has not reached that limit during the day.

If you are concerned about not being able to get tickets for 30 March, what you can do is to redeem and buy extra tickets earlier. I would suggest getting tickets in advance so that you don’t have to deal with the queue at ticketing counters on your day of visit.

Tickets are sold at the same price all year, at $74 for adults. Yes, the Mastercard 15% discount campaign (with a $5 dining voucher) is still available for tickets till 30 May 2013.

    • Dejiki April 6, 2013 at 9:18 am #

Hi Mary, you will be able to buy the ticket for your son at Child price. Bring your son’s ID card with birthdate for verification at the park ticketing counters.

    thank you
    imran

    • Dejiki April 6, 2013 at 9:25 am #

      Hi Imran,

Currently, tickets (One Day Pass) to Universal Studios Singapore are priced at $74 per adult and $54 per child. There is a 15% discount promotion on tickets if you purchase tickets with a Mastercard (valid for park visits till 31st May 2013).

Park admission includes entry to all attractions (rides and shows) in Universal Studios Singapore, except Amber Rock Climb.

Unfortunately I am unable to advise about a hotel. I would suggest reading reviews at TripAdvisor.com or similar websites.

  22. devri April 8, 2013 at 2:01 pm #

i just buy tickets by online, but it appears to be i forget to choose my arrival date. i should’ve come by next week, 15 april. but i paid tickets for one day pass for 8 april. will my tickets still be valid for 15 april ??

    • Dejiki April 8, 2013 at 4:26 pm #

      Hi Devri,

Standard tickets purchased online are valid for 6 months from date of purchase. So no worries, your tickets can be used on 15 April 2013.

The only exception is the special discounted ticket (known as “Dated Tickets”) which are only valid for the specific date chosen.

    • Sylvia June 5, 2013 at 8:44 am #

@devri : i did same things as you did. i forgot to choose my arrival date which should be on 17 june, but the choosen date selected as booking date is yesterday, 04 june. then i hurry to emails rwsentosa, but unfortunately i’ve got bad answers that my ticket is unchangeable to appropriate date. When i read you probably had same condition with me, i want to know about how finally your ticket can still use on 15 april?

@dejiki: based on my story to devri, can you help me to solve it?

      thanks

      • Dejiki June 5, 2013 at 4:25 pm #

Sylvia, if you have purchased your ticket at a normal price, the ticket’s chosen date may default to the booking date. The tickets are valid for 6-months from date of purchase.

However, if your tickets are purchased at a promotional rate, and it is stated to be a “Dated Ticket”, then you will need to contact RWS again or make a request on-site at their guest services counters.

single day passfor universal studios is $ 74 per person
for express pass i ve to pay additional $ 50 for that or what…..or express passfor $ 50 is for some otherr puprose…….appeciate any feedback

    • Dejiki May 26, 2013 at 8:22 pm #

$74 is for admission into the park.

The Express Pass ($30 or $50) allows the use of the express queue for the park’s attractions, once per attraction per person.

  25. Crystal June 18, 2013 at 11:00 am #

    Hello. 🙂
I want to ask the roller coaster ride is located at which city? Is it true that some of the rides need to pay. My friends said $74 is just the entrance fee. Is it true? Some rides need to pay?

    • Dejiki June 25, 2013 at 10:26 am #

      Hi Crystal,

The One-Day Pass ($74) for admission to the park includes entry to all rides and shows EXCEPT Amber Rock Climb (rock climbing activity) at Jurassic Park zone.

It’s unlimited access to the Express line for the Season Passholder.

No, all park passes sold are non-refundable.

  33. Hannah March 19, 2014 at 12:50 am #

    Hi Dejiki,
Is there any way to differentiate unused passes from used passes to avoid fraud if I’m buying the tickets from someone else?

    • Dejiki March 22, 2014 at 3:29 pm #

      Hi Hannah,

There is no way to tell if a ticket has been used unless you bring it to the park’s guest services counter for verification. I strongly suggest buying only from authorized agents or directly from RWS.

  34. Darren March 20, 2014 at 10:27 am #

Hi Darren, anyone can purchase a season pass to the park.

  35. Jean March 26, 2014 at 3:49 am #

    Hi Hi,

My family is visiting from Canada and we are planning to buy a Season Pass (We will be staying in Singapore for 5 nites in April). Why is the Season Pass cheaper than a 2-day pass at USS? Is there any catch to this? What dates to avoid in April? Also, do you know of any complimentary shuttle buses to USS for tourists? thanks!!! Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Jean

    • Dejiki March 30, 2014 at 12:11 am #

Hi Jean, the Season Pass is cheaper (than a 2-day pass) because it is meant to encourage frequent visits. 2-Day Passes are essentially two 1-Day passes that are valid on two consecutive days.

For Season Pass, some things you need to note would be:
      – Unlike the usual park tickets, Season Passes are not transferable. Each pass has a Photo ID.
      – When you purchase a Season Pass at the park gates (or online), you will get the pass in the form of a paper ticket. That is actually not the actual Season Pass, but a one-use ticket to enter the park. That ticket will be processed into an actual pass card once you’ve entered the park.
      – Every member of your family will need to go through the sign-up process at the park (which takes up to 10-15 minutes per person, excluding additional wait time if there is a queue). There’s just a simple registration form to fill, followed by taking a photograph of each passholder, and then the plastic cards will be printed.

So if you are intending to visit more than a day, you should get Season Passes for your family. They are great as (personalized) souvenirs, plus you get to enjoy other benefits, such as retail and dining discounts at the park!

The park may be crowded over Easter weekend, given the long weekend break, as well as the Easter-themed programme at the park. Also, Saturday is usually the park’s busiest day of the week.

There are free shuttle buses from hotels around Singapore to Universal Studios Singapore. However, you must be a guest at the following hotels to board the bus:

Summer View Hotel, Carlton Hotel, Swissotel the Stamford, Marina Mandarin, Marina Bay Sands, Concorde Hotel, Mandarin Orchard, Grand Hyatt, Shangri-La Hotel, or Orchard Hotel.

For more information, refer to this page (Select “Tourist Shuttle (Various Hotels)” on the right drop-down menu):

  36. Graham April 13, 2014 at 3:16 pm #

Is it still possible to upgrade a standard ticket to a season pass when you are in the park.

If so can you do it with a promotional price ticket. Eg MasterCard or Asia travel 15pct off promos

If so is it a straight dollar value topup or does it cost more with a cheaper ticket.

    Thanks.

  37. Zezima June 23, 2014 at 1:52 pm #

    Hi dejiki.

As a regular guest of the Universal Studios Singapore, do you have any detailed information / blog post / guide or perhaps your experiences, comments and suggestions about VIP tours?

If not, would you mind create a new detailed article about VIP Tours in your blog? I was quite curious about what services do VIP tours will offer at this kind of price. Full detail with pictures will be appreciated.

I was an Annual Pass holder and I observed there are guests with VIP lanyards. But hey! We Annual Pass holders are also VIP guests 😀 (Just joking)

  38. Icedrops July 17, 2014 at 6:40 pm #

    Hi there,

Liked to know if any photo is required for application of the annual pass?

    Tks! 🙂

    • Dejiki July 19, 2014 at 11:44 pm #

Annual Passes will have a Photo ID on it. You do not need to prepare a photo to bring to the park; your picture will be taken during registration.

  39. Angus July 18, 2014 at 1:34 pm #

    Hi Dejiki,

If i purchase annual pass via website, do i need to bring along any docs like passport or NRIC for processing annual pass at lobby there during my 1st visit day in USS? Must i have to enter park entrance at USS 1st for exchange annual pass card or any other locations available for exchange?
    Thanks for your helping!

    • Dejiki July 19, 2014 at 11:42 pm #

      Hi Angus,

You do not need to bring your passport or NRIC. Simply print out the e-ticket you bought online and bring it to the park entrance. You can enter USS first. The park crew will guide you to the Annual Pass Lobby where you will register for your Annual Pass.

  40. Zezima July 21, 2014 at 9:10 am #

Hi Dejiki. I just bought another set of Season Pass yesterday as my Annual Pass has expired last month.
You might want to include this information to your article – I have already confirmed with the Annual Pass Lobby staff:

Lanyards will NOT be provided if you purchase Season Pass (6 months).

Lanyards will ONLY be provided if you buy Annual Pass (1 year).

It doesn’t really matter whether with Express package or not.

  41. Ben August 24, 2014 at 12:53 pm #

    Hi Deijiki,

I think your article is very helpful to me. However, I have another doubt about the season pass with express- is it also unlimted express for rides as the annual pass with express? Or it is one time express as regular one? Thanks

        • Dejiki September 2, 2014 at 9:21 am #

It was by chance. Thanks for submitting the tip! Since you’re at the park so often, I’d like to invite you to contribute to the USS monthly park updates. If there’s anything you’d like to contribute (news, photos, thoughts on anything in the park, etc), feel free to share 😀

          • Zezima September 2, 2014 at 9:34 am #

            All-right! Thanks for that 😀

Anyway I’ll see you this coming Saturday for the Puss In Boots & Kitty Softpaws update 😀

You might want to create “USS VIP Tour experience” blog entry if possible, so that we will know how the VIP tour experience looks like! 😀

(I have to admit, creating that blog entry is pretty costly as it will cost $298 for one day per adult! AP holders should have a great reduction in that price though)

Hi, thank you for much for the comprehensive information about the prices and times. I was just wondering, the 6 months student season pass, does it apply to overseas students too? University students too? Thanks

  46. shiro September 4, 2015 at 10:49 pm #

What if we bought it on like maybe December the seasonal pass,it will start from December onwards and last 6months right? Or must I buy on January only.

    • Dejiki September 12, 2015 at 5:00 pm #

The pass is valid for six months from the first day it was used to enter the park (and converted into a card), not the date of purchase (although that ticket would have an validity period as well, as with all tickets).

      • shiro September 12, 2015 at 11:55 pm #

If I bought tickets from online or a travel agency for a cheaper price and I would want to upgrade it to seasonal, I still be able to top up to seasonal pass right? And I have to go down to USS and upgrade it to seasonal pass.

I wanna ask if there’s a cycle period to the season pass? Like, when I buy the pass does it already have a set period of january to june for example, or does it start from when you receive/ purchase the pass?

    • Dejiki September 3, 2018 at 10:27 am #

The validity period for Season Pass ticket is from the day you purchase the pass (typically 30 days). Use the pass within that period to register and activate the actual Season Pass membership, which will be for a period of 6 months from date of registration.

  51. Winston December 12, 2021 at 12:13 pm #

In 2021 it says the pass is not available when will it be available again? For the annual pass ? I may sign up

    • Dejiki December 13, 2021 at 9:36 am #

The Annual Pass programme has been suspended since the park’s closure in April 2020. It may become available when more Covid-related restrictions are lifted.
