Overview: Halloween attractions in Singapore 2012

Terror returns this October with several Halloween attractions all over Singapore. Here is a convenient guide to various themed haunts in Singapore for the 2012 Halloween season.

Halloween Event Guide 2013 Edition – now available!

This page is a guide to Halloween attractions in 2012.
Looking for events in 2013? The 2013 Guide to Halloween attractions and events is now available!

Universal Studios Singapore presents an elevated sequel to its highly successful Halloween Horrors Nights, promising to be a larger event that is more elaborate and much scarier than before. Sentosa Spooktacular is also making a return with Asian horror-themed haunted trails – but for the first time, it will be held at Fort Siloso. If these two attractions seem too lengthy for you, a smaller haunt, FrightFest 2012 is available at the Singapore Flyer.

Also, various popular night clubs are hosting Halloween-themed events for those who wish to just dance through the night.

It is time again to gather your brave friends (and the gutless ones) for a few nights of fear at these events! I’m sure the memories will last forever.

This entry will be continuously updated when new information is available. Do bookmark this page and check regularly for updates.

Sentosa Spooktacular

While I did not attend Sentosa Spooktacular 2011, it was a large event at Imbiah zone, Sentosa. If you’d like to see details of last year’s event, refer to my 2011 Halloween attractions overview.

I did attend the event in 2010 though, which featured indoor scares houses within the buildings of Images of Singapore and Merlion attractions, as well as a harmless ride on the Tiger Sky Tower. The entire Imbiah area in Sentosa is a scare zone and is the only place where photography is allowed, if you wish to take photos with the scare actors. Here is my report of Sentosa Spooktacular in 2010.

However there is a new twist this year. Sentosa Spooktacular 2012 will be held at Fort Siloso. Yet another location at Sentosa that is heavily rumoured to be haunted. The site was significant during World War 2 (as a fort and a camp for prisoners-of-war), but is now a modern military museum. For Sentosa Spooktacular, one of the haunted trails is of course, themed to an army camp.

Information is scarce now as Sentosa is focused on its 40th Anniversary celebration. This section will be updated once new information is available.

hspooktacularhttp://www.spooktacular.com.sg/

Location

Fort Siloso, Siloso Point, Sentosa
Unlike Imbiah zone (which is directly accessible via the Imbiah Sentosa Express station), Fort Siloso is located at the west end of Sentosa island. Getting there is a little more complicated. Refer to full list of travel directions here.

Notable Attractions

5 haunted trails around Fort Siloso

  • Deadly Doll Studio
  • Kem Berhantu (lit. Haunted Camp)
  • The Last Sequel
  • The Land of Lost Souls
  • 碟仙 (Oujia Board)

Event Dates

19/10, 20/10

Museum of Horrors 2012 – Zombie Outbreak

h_mh3
Website Link

The Museum of Horrors returns again with 4D effects, promising an intense zombie outbreak experience. Like its previous installments, Museum of Horrors is still the only walkthrough attraction that operates in the day (and every day) during the Halloween season.

Scared shrieks waft from the eerie paths that crisscross *SCAPE’s warehouse of unspeakable horrors. As feared, biochemist Dr Decay may have gone a step too far in desperately finding a cure for his wife, Mary, who is suffering from a strange disease. Treading through the transformed facility, Halloween revellers now enter a secret laboratory housing a horde of zombies. Try to make it out of the zombie outbreak alive before it spirals downwards into a widespread, uncontainable epidemic. With 4D effects guaranteed to ignite all senses and fill the evening with spine-tingling chills, never let carefully built-up guards down just when safety is presumed to be at its highest. Tread carefully, and come prepared for that one final terrifying twist at the end of the experience.

15 Responses to Overview: Halloween attractions in Singapore 2012

  1. Luke September 1, 2012 at 2:17 pm #

    Hey Dejiki!
    Great overview of the attractions!
However, you just made me more afraid of going to HHN2! The hospital haunt is going to scare the hell out of me!!!!

    T T

    • Dejiki September 1, 2012 at 2:21 pm #

      Hi Luke,

      Thanks for commenting.

I know how you feel – I’ve been to another heavily themed scare maze before that is hospital themed. Even actual hospitals (the older ones) can get creepy to walk at night!

Talking about hospital haunts… Have you heard of the Haunted Hospital at Fuji-Q Highlands? It had the world record holder for the longest walkthrough haunted maze (not sure if it’s still the longest) because it takes about 30-40 minutes to get to the end. The rooms are very dark and guests get a dim flashlight (which is quite useless) for the first half!

      • Luke September 1, 2012 at 4:25 pm #

Yes I have heard of that.
However I skipped Fuji-Q when I visited Japan in June, since it is more of an amusement park than a theme park.
But my friends in Japan have been to the hospital haunt and proved its extreme horror.

I don’t think I can ever survive that… Japan is famous for creepy stuff…

When I visited USJ, there was a temporary Mummy haunt. I walked straight back the the entrance after getting scared by the third scare actor… and exited the maze immediately.

  2. Melvin September 15, 2012 at 1:12 pm #

Can i ask this year, how sure are u
that the scare actors are not allowed to touch guests? It appears this
is a very important factor to my friends who are going. Thanks!

    • Dejiki September 15, 2012 at 5:29 pm #

      Hi Melvin,

Scare actors are trained create an experience for guests through their performance. Generally, Universal has very strict guidelines on what sort of actions scare actors can do. The most important rule is for them to get close to guests and scare them, but NEVER touch guests unaware.

At times, guests may wish to take photos with scare actors and some scare actors may pose with guests – there might be contact (such as having their arm around a guest’s shoulder, like a friendly group photo; or grabbing a guest’s head like a typical monster/villain photo) but the guest is already aware and hence this form of contact is acceptable.

For some scare mazes, scare actors may “touch” guests using props, but the action of “touching” highly limited (no such thing as groping or grabbing).

That said, accidents do happen but rest assured that any sort of unaware contact with guests are unintentional. Even if guests are aware, scare actors will NOT touch guests in ways that are socially unacceptable.

It is far more common for guests to touch scare actors (either intentionally or as a natural reaction to shock).

  3. Natasha September 28, 2012 at 5:23 pm #

can i ask? is it okay to wear school uniforms there? thanks

    • Dejiki September 28, 2012 at 5:30 pm #

Hi Natasha, which Halloween attraction are you referring to?

  4. JT September 29, 2012 at 9:51 pm #

    Hi,

Are we allowed to dress up for deadly ever after?

    • Dejiki September 30, 2012 at 5:22 pm #

      Hi JT,

Costumes are only explicitly banned at Universal Studios Singapore’s Halloween Horror Nights. The other events do not have guidelines for costumes, and usually some of their guests make the effort to dress up.

  5. xyz October 18, 2012 at 4:31 pm #

What are the transportation changes like on the nights of HHN2@USS on sentosa? Sentosa express stops operating at midnight as usual?

    • Dejiki October 18, 2012 at 5:34 pm #

      For public transportation into Sentosa:

      1. Sentosa Broadwalk – $1
      2. RWS8 Bus – $2
      3. Sentosa Express – $3.50

Trip out of Sentosa via these 3 ways are free.

Yes, Sentosa Express will stop operating at Midnight. But I believe there will be a long queue for Sentosa Express so they may extend hours. However, usually after USS closes, the queue for Sentosa Express and RWS8 are extremely long. I would suggest walking out to Vivocity via Broadwalk.

  6. Sam October 21, 2012 at 1:57 am #

Do u know any Halloween party that is for 13 years old and above that can wear costume..???

    • Dejiki October 22, 2012 at 9:24 pm #

      Hi Sam,

You might want to take a look at the “Escape to “Hell”oween” event at Downtown East.

  7. nadiah October 22, 2012 at 6:25 pm #

Really curious if an adult must come with us (15 year olds) into sentosa spooktacular…. we can’t enter by ourselves?
