We’re back with the 2016 SURVIVAL GUIDE to Universal Studios Singapore’s Halloween Horror Nights 6: The Ultimate Guide to HHN6, with all the tips, show times, and things you must know!
There are no ‘perfect tips’ as the park continues to tweak HHN6 continuously. Just take these as general tips and plan your own itinerary for a frightful night at Universal Studios Singapore!
We will refine and update this guide throughout October.
Looking for the HHN6 review? Find out all about this year’s Halloween Horror Nights 6 here!
1. Be Nice!
For the safety of performers and other park visitors, please do not touch or assault anyone in Haunted Houses and Scare Zones.
The scare actors will not touch park guests. There are cameras everywhere monitoring the park. If you cause harm to performers, park staff and guests, you may be detained and/or expelled from the park.
2. What to wear and bring to HHN6?
Halloween Horror Queues 2016. It’s going to be very crowded.
Dress for comfort. Wear covered shoes if you can, because it’s dark and places can get crowded. All 5 haunted houses are in covered, outdoor tents, this year, and the queues are mostly outdoors, so it can get stuffy.
Most areas of scare zones are dark and haunted houses have rooms with uneven flooring, elevation changes in the dark or special surfaces. So get comfy, and leave your killer outfits at home.Click to expand: What you should bring to HHN6
What should I bring?
To buy snacks, drinks, souvenirs and ponchos around the park. Don’t bring too much also. ATMs are available inside the park (Jurassic Park, outside Suicide Forest). Pushcarts will only accept cash – bottled drinks start at $4.00. Note that most carts only offer Evian Sports as the only mineral water option, at $6.50.
In case of rain. Much more comfortable than walking around in a poncho.
Portable Power Bank and USB charging cables
For those who want to keep themselves entertained while in the queue – whether it’s Live videos, Pokemon Go or anything, you may want to bring a portable charger along to stay connected and keep yourself entertained all night!
Glowsticks, Glow Wristbands
A soft glow to calm your nerves while in Haunted Houses and scare zones. A lot less distracting than flashing accessories.
Things NOT to bring
Apart from the typical list of items not allowed in Universal Studios Singapore, please refrain from bringing the following:
Masks and/or Costumes: Guests are not allowed to wear masks or costumes in the park.
Flashlights, laser pointers: Please refrain from bringing these items into the park. Guests are not allowed to use them inside Haunted Houses.
3. Be prepared. Know the land.

5. How long do I have to wait for the haunted house? No HHN6 Express Pass how?
Old Changi Hospital – the most popular haunted house on opening night
Which is the most popular haunted house? Which one has the longest queue?
For the past 3 weeks, the two most popular haunted houses are Old Changi Hospital and Hu Li’s Inn, with wait times consistently over 60-100 mins. Bodies of Work has the lowest wait time and is usually 5-40 minutes.
Here is a chart showing typical (around 9-11pm) and maximum wait time, in minutes – during PEAK nights. During the first 15 minutes after park opening, houses would have wait times of 30 minutes or less.
|Haunted House||Typical Range||Highest|
|Hawker Centre Massacre||45 – 70||120+|
|Salem Witch House||45 – 90||120+|
|Hu Li’s Inn||60 – 100||140+|
|Old Changi Hospital||90 – 120||150+|
|Bodies of Work||15 – 50||90+|
Note: Conditions vary from night to night, wait times always flucuate.
Five houses, some more than 1 hour of waiting, and this event is only 5-6 hours long?
Glad you noticed. So yes, it is likely that some guests would not be able to experience all 5 haunted houses without the use of Express Passes or be quick-witted about planning their night. Not to mention that Jack’s Recurring Nightmare Circus is quite a highlight this year and is expected to be full house.
FAQ: HHN6 Express Pass
There are two types of Express Passes this year. These Add on passes shorten the queue to the horrors of HHN6. They do not include admission to the park during HHN6.
Click to read the FAQ on HHN6 Express Pass Types
What is HHN6 Express Pass?
The HHN6 Express Passes allow guests to use the Universal Express queue lane once per haunted house per pass at the five haunted houses:
Bodies of Work, Salem Witch House, Hawker Centre Massacre, Hu Li’s Inn and Old Changi Hospital
What is HHN6 Express PLUS Pass?
This is an upgraded version of the standard HHN Express Passes allowing guests to use the Universal Express queue lane once per attraction per pass for the following attractions:
Bodies of Work, Salem Witch House, Hawker Centre Massacre, Hu Li’s Inn and Old Changi Hospital, Battlestar Galactica: HUMAN, Battlestar Galactica: CYLON, Transformers: The Ride, Accelerator, Revenge of the Mummy, Enchanted Airways, Scared Shrekless, Puss in Boots’ Giant Journey.
All Express Passes are not valid for use at Canopy Flyer, Jack’s Recurring Nightmare Circus, or front row access at Battlestar Galactica: HUMAN vs CYLON.
How long is wait for the HHN Express Lane?
There will still be a short wait, typically cutting down hours of waiting in the normal line into 5 – 25 minutes for most attractions.
I thought the price start from $40. Why did the price double tonight?
HHN6 Express and Express PLUS Pass is dynamically priced based on demand. Buy early, pay less. Buy at the park, definitely more. It can even be sold out too!
OMG it’s $100 now? How can!
That means that the park has sold its initial quota of the Express Passes, and the price is adjusted by demand to ensure that they do not oversell and affect the performance of the Express lane. And $100 is not even the maximum price.
So if I don’t buy…
Do you need Express Pass? It depends. If you stay at the park for its full event hours (7:30pm till closing) during off-peak nights, there should be adequate time to wait for most haunted houses. The key is to enter at the right time – not when the queues are at the longest. Otherwise you may want to consider prioritising the haunted houses because on very crowded nights you may only be able to visit up to 1-3 houses.
But I really really want to go to all the haunted houses! How?
Every year, readers would ask how to clear houses without Express passes. Yes, it’s a steep price for the convenience and red carpet treatment. With HHN being the region’s most popular event, it may be the only way to experience all attractions, including rides.
The most important thing is to go for HHN6 on a non-peak night. Avoid Saturdays. NOPE.
But if you are lucky and don’t mind skipping some rides, it could be easier than you think. You may not even need to follow this suggested strategy.
★ “No Express Pass” strategy ★
If you are fast, you may be able to experience all 5 houses without express passes. It’s harder this year though, because there are 5 houses.
So you either have to clear everything quickly at the start of the night, or rush them when the park is about to close.
Several thousand readers view this HHN6 guide every day, and over the years people have adopted the routes. If many people follow this guide, it may cause longer wait times for some haunted houses.
PLAN A: Dashing into the Dark
1. Be at park gates before 6:30pm. Wait for gates to be open and line up in front of the turnstiles. Line up neatly, at the RIGHT lanes that display HHN ENTRY.
2. Once the ticket scanning frenzy starts (around 7PM), get your tickets validated at the turnstile and move into the park quickly.
3. You will have to wait for the HHN6 Opening Scaremony at Hollywood to start at around 7:30PM. Both left and right paths will be open after crew members have removed the rope.
4. Move quickly to your destination only after the rope has been removed. Choose to go either left or right!
TURN LEFT… for Ghosts of Changi past and present
Old Changi Hospital* → Hu Li’s Inn → Salem Witch House → Hawker Centre Massacre → Bodies of Work
Tip: If the crew is directing people to Bodies of Work, you can choose to wait around until they allow guests to pass to Old Changi Hospital.
Tip #2: Park regulars may want to use the Far Far Away lagoon side path for quicker access to the back of the park. For experts only. See map above for this shortcut.
Tip #3: You can actually turn right as well, if you cut through with the Sting Alley shortcut. See the map above.
HEAD RIGHT… for haunting tales of deadly seduction
Hu Li’s Inn → Old Changi Hospital → Salem Witch House → Hawker Centre Massacre → Bodies of Work
No matter how long the wait is, the queue will continue to move. Bodies of Work has consistently the lowest wait times for the first 7 nights of the event. Thus it is recommended that you save this for later in the night.
PLAN B: Closing Time
If you stay at the park until it closes, the wait times would be at its shortest, as park guests start to leave towards the end.
1. At around 1.5 hours before park closing, check the wait times and prioritise to go to either houses at the far end of the park first: Bodies of Work or Old Changi Hospital. It is likely that you have to choose one, and that Old Changi Hospital may have the longer waiting time.
2. After that, work your way back to Hu Li’s Inn (walk through Ancient Egypt)
3. Head to either Salem Witch House or Hawker Centre Massacre, if the queues are still open.
Note: If the queues for haunted houses are still very long at 12:00AM, the park may choose to close the lines early so that everyone can leave the park on time.
PLAN C: Frequent Fear Pass Upgrade
If you don’t mind returning on another night, consider upgrading your HHN6 Standard Admission* to a Frequent Fear Pass. You will need to top-up the difference between what you already paid for your ticket and the normal price of a Frequent Fear Pass.
* – Not all tickets may be eligible. Restrictions may apply, please check with guest services for confirmation.
6. HHN6 Tips & Secrets
Checking Wait Times
You can check Wait Times for Haunted Houses, park attractions and show times at the LED signs located at Hollywood, Sci-Fi City and Far Far Away. You may also spot park crew carrying the board showing haunted house wait times.
Jack’s Recurring Nightmare Circus – Different Acts
Each show of Jack’s Nightmare Circus might be a little different, as the stunt acts are in rotation. How exciting! The knife throwing act is Deadly Games from America’s Got Talent.
Hu Li’s Inn presents Hu Li sings!
Don’t walk too fast past the stage – Hu Li might have a few tricks in her hair.
Songs to Scream With
We have compiled some of the songs heard at the park’s shows, attractions and ‘chill-out’ zones. Only original versions found on spotify, if there are variations.
Shortcut – Sting Alley (New York)
You can take the side path (Sting Alley) to cut across the crowds at March of the Dead scare zone, for faster access to Hu Li’s Inn and to the Ancient Egypt and Sci-Fi City zones.
Refer to the map above for all the shortcuts.
Hawker Centre Massacre – Curious Red Buttons
Inside this haunted house are a few red buttons. Push them, and the people in front of you might not be happy about it.
Missing people at Suicide Forest
There’s already A LOT of missing people lurking around. Hold onto your friends and stick together, it’s very easy to get lost inside here. Otherwise you might just come out alone..

7. Other FAQ: Where to park? Raining.. how?
Ah, a new section for questions you’re dying to ask.
Where to park?
I’d suggest parking on Sentosa island because parking off-site, such as at Vivocity or Harbourfront, would mean taking a transport out of the island, or walking out. Although there’s RWS8 shuttle bus that links RWS to Vivocity and Harbourfront, frankly it’s something you may want to avoid after a tiring night at HHN6.
Imbiah Carpark, Sentosa
Consider parking at the Imbiah Carpark at Sentosa, because you only have to pay a flat-rate to enter Sentosa, and the parking’s cheaper than in RWS. It’s a ten minute walk from USS Park Gates to the car park.
Sentosa Admission fee for Cars
After 5PM (weekdays): $2
After 5PM (weekends and public holidays): $3
Car Park Rates for Imbiah Car Park
After 5PM (weekdays): $1 per entry
After 5PM (weekends and public holidays): $2 per entry
For rates before 5PM and other details, please check Sentosa’s website.
Underground Carpark, Resorts World Sentosa
Alternatively, park at the nearest car park, right below USS! Park at the Red or Blue zones.
Car Park Rates
Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Public Holiday:
7am to 7pm: $8 for 1st hour, $2 subsequent half hour or part thereof
After 7pm: $8 per entry
Maximum: $28 per 24 hours
Monday – Thursday (excludes Public Holidays):
7am to 7pm: $7 for 1st hour, $1 subsequent half hour or part thereof
After 7pm: $6 per entry
Maximum: $28 per 24 hours
In event of poor weather…
What if it rains during HHN6?
During inclement weather, this is what happens:
– Some scare zones may be temporarily closed, and scare actors may not roam at some areas.
– Some streets may be closed to divert traffic.
– Outdoor rides, such as Battlestar Galactica: HUMAN vs CYLON, Canopy Flyer, Puss in Boots’ Giant Journey and Enchanted Airways may pause operations temporarily for guests’ safety.
– Guests may continue to queue for Old Changi Hospital, Bodies of Work, Hu Li’s Inn, Hawker Centre Massacre and Salem Witch House, but note that the queues are not completely sheltered for all Haunted Houses.
8. Make your final escape home
If you’re thinking of leaving by a cab, you may want to leave before 11:00PM to avoid a long line at the RWS taxi stand at the basement carpark. There’s a $3 Surcharge for taxis leaving the resort, among other surcharges.
Sentosa Express (Monorail)
Planning to take the monorail out of Sentosa (to Vivocity?) The last train leaves from Beach Station at 12:00AM. Better get to the Waterfront station (closest to RWS) before 11:30PM.
RWS Shuttle Bus
If you’re heading to Harbourfront or Vivocity for more transport options, you can take the RWS8 shuttle bus from the bus stop at RWS basement carpark. During HHN6 event nights, this bus service will be extended by three hours after HHN6 event hours.
RWS8 is available until
3:30AM on 30 Sep, 6, 13, 20, 27, 30 & 31 Oct
4:30AM on 1, 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, 22, 28 & 29 Oct
Night Rider Bus Service
Two Night Rider services are available from Resorts World Sentosa. NR1 and NR6 are available on Fridays, Saturdays & eve of Public Holidays. These buses depart from the RWS Coach Bay from around 11:30PM to 2:30AM, frequency about every 25-30 minutes. A flat fee of $4.50 applies.
