7:00PM: As the Universal Studios Singapore (USS) is slowly filled with eager guests, a group of protesters have gathered around Hollywood Boulevard. Angered with Jonah Goodwill’s deceptive rise to power, they demand that the Minister of Evil step down from office.

Marianne Greene, a reporter from Primetime News, approached the protesters.

“This is Marianne Greene reporting for Primetime News. I’m coming to you LIVE from Hollywood Boulevard. A street that was filled happy tourists is now filling up with thousands of angry protesters, who are out to take the Goodwill administration down. I am told that at any moment, Minister Jonah Goodwill will arrive and speak to the angry mob of protesters. For now, things are under control, but who knows… Are we going to see a repeat of that angry riot two months ago when the Minister came to power?”

“Hello ma’am. Minister Goodwill came into power a few months ago. How does that make you feel as a citizen?”

“As you can see, tensions are extremely high here at Hollywood Boulevard. Stay tuned for more, coming to you live. This is Marianne Greene for Primetime News.”

“Citizens of the world, you were wise to elect me! I stand here as the first World Leader! SUBMIT TO MY RULE, AND WE WILL RISE FOR ETERNITY!”

The mob gets riled up, and protesters attempt to assault the Minister.

Hi, may i know what’s the name of the music when the minister soars off the stage ? I really love it.

    • Dejiki October 4, 2014 at 1:16 pm #

Power Glove by Knife Party! It was also used for last year’s opening.

I was there yesterday and it was great. I liked the opening ceremony and the Minister of Evil flying up like that. Thought that was a really nice touch. Unfortunately, I was only able to visit one haunted house, The Lab, but I did experience all the scare zones except Bogeyman. Scary Tales was great and so was Jack’s Nightmare Circus!! It was fun meeting the Evil Queen and the not-so-friendly Little Red Riding Hood hahaha.

    • Dejiki October 4, 2014 at 1:16 pm #

Hi J, were the queues for Haunted Houses and Bogeyman too long? What time did you enter and leave the park?

      • J October 4, 2014 at 2:13 pm #

Yeah, the lines were long. We entered about 10 minutes before the opening ceremony. The lines were shorter at the beginning but we were waiting for a friend and used the time to visit Canyon of the Cursed and rode Revenge of the Mummy. When he arrived, we watched Jack’s Nightmare Circus, and we experienced Demoncracy (which we experienced as well on the way to Panatges). We then crossed over through Canyon of the Cursed to Scary Tales and The Lab. Following that, we did join the queue for Jack’s 3-D Dementia as it said “05” minutes. However, it definitely took longer and I left halfway. I left the park at about 11:30.

        • J October 4, 2014 at 2:14 pm #

We really wanted to go for Jing’s Revenge but lines were long. The time for The Lab was long as well, but since it was at the end of Sacry Tales we decided to just queue for it.

          • J October 4, 2014 at 2:16 pm #

For Jack’s 3-D Dementia, I meant I left then lines halfway

            • J October 4, 2014 at 2:48 pm #

Also, has Mort joined Madagascar Boogie? If so, I am going this weekend!!!!

              • Zezima October 4, 2014 at 7:17 pm #

                Hi there.

Nope, Mort has not joined Madagascar Boogie yet. I wish he was there though.

However, i will still go there and boogie with them during the 10 minutes of meet and greet session, every weekends haha!

              • J October 5, 2014 at 10:24 am #

Oh hi Zezima. It’s actually cos I saw a picture of Mort and the Madagascar characters in a comment posted on the Resorts World Page. I think it was you who posted it? Does that mean Mort is arriving?

              • Zezima October 5, 2014 at 8:58 pm #

Nope. There is no official statement from RWS regarding “Mort”. I wish he will arrive though haha! 😀

For the picture you saw in FB page, I used google images search and happen to find this picture. Just that I added a USS logo to make it look nicer 😀

That picture looks like a complete Madagascar family though haha! 😀

        • Dejiki October 4, 2014 at 2:18 pm #

Thanks for sharing about your experience at HHN4. I was at the park last night and was able to clear Jack’s 3-Dementia, Jing’s Revenge (2 times) and The L.A.B. The wait time was around 35-40 minutes per house (except the first wait for Jing was about 10 minutes at 8:00pm). However, I skipped Jack’s Nightmare Circus.

          • brendan October 4, 2014 at 7:20 pm #

I went yesterday n it wasn’t really long, i manage to complete everything in a single night. I left at 1:30am of course. The one tht took the longest was mati camp but i waited till arnd 12 plus and the queue was only 10 mins or less, the lab which i went first took arnd 15 mins in the beginning at arnd 8, Jing’s revenge took me less then 5 mins arnd 10 plus, Jacks 3Dementia took me arnd 10 mins at 11 plus and Bogeyman took me less then 10 mins at arnd 10 plus as well. Had a great experience and the minister of evil really made my night haha

            • ed October 5, 2014 at 12:19 am #

looks and sounds cool so far! Are you guys on express passes for the que timings reported?

Also wad time can u enter the park? So u can skip the opening scaremony and go que for houses straight?

              • Dejiki October 5, 2014 at 1:13 am #

The park will open its gates about 5 minutes after 7PM. The Opening Scaremony cannot be skipped.

  3. Liam October 4, 2014 at 11:21 pm #

I love this opening. I think it is so much better than last years rather lackluster and boring opening, which just felt like a process guests needed to go through before getting to the real fun of the haunted houses. This pre-show is definitely a highlight on it’s own, and I would recommend anyone who wants to go to catch it, as up close as possible. The pictures here are great, but it is so much better live. Kudos to the creative team at HHN for bringing these touches of detail to the program, something I felt lacks in their previous shows and previous HHNs. I hope they replicate this success next year. I am excited for 2015!

  4. Sona October 5, 2014 at 3:20 am #

Here to share my experience for 4th October. I actually went last year and was unable to complete all the attractions due to long queues. This year I was able experience everything and more.

At 7pm, I entered the park and lined up behind others for the opening ceremony. If you look at the map layout, all the attractions are located on the park’s right side so it’s better to position yourself on the right. Once the opening ceremony was over, I rushed to Mati Camp, no queue. After that, the Lab, which had 40mins queue. Then went to Jing’s revenge(30mins), Bogeyman(40mins) and 3-Dementia(5mins). By this time, it was 10.15pm so I just made my way to watch the stage show Jack’s nightmare circus. Good opportunity to rest my tired legs.

After the stage show, I wandered around the scare zones, took some rides and was even able to repeat the haunted houses. My conclusion is, after 11.30pm, you’ll be able to experience all the haunted houses without queuing cos the waiting time was just 5mins by then.

Overall, I think USS did a good job reducing queues by adding more haunted houses and scare zones. Bogeyman in particular is something to lookout for since it’s like an open-air haunted house. I enjoyed walking through a street of ghouls whilst getting some fresh air and night breeze. The circus show is worth watching for certain segments, which will leave u gasping in shock. Otherwise, half of it is very typically what you will see on TV. I actually hoped to see some acrobatic action like trapeze flying but sadly nothing of that sort happened.

Finally, I just want to compliment USS for offering free transport after midnight to Clementi, Toa PAyoh and Bedok! I really had no idea about this until I read a brochure that I randomly grabbed somewhere. Really gave me a peace of mind cos otherwise I would have to part with $30 trying to get home.

    • Karulann October 6, 2014 at 4:09 pm #

      Hi Sona,

Appreciate you sharing your experience. Btw, can you share more info regarding the free transport after midnight? Do they pass by clarke quay? Thanks

      • Dejiki October 6, 2014 at 4:39 pm #

        Hi Karulann,

The free shuttle services (departing for Clementi, Toa Payoh and Bedok MRT stations) are available at the RWS Coach Bay (basement). The shuttles depart at 1:00AM, 1:30AM and 2:00AM. For more information, you can check out this section of the Survival Guide: http://dejiki.com/2014/10/uss-hhn4-survival-guide-tips-tricks/#transport

      • Sona October 7, 2014 at 1:10 am #

Karulann, these shuttles go direct to their destinations so don’t think you can alight in between. If u need to get to Clarke quay after midnight then I suggest NR1 or NR6 which are also located at the carpark.

  5. karulann October 8, 2014 at 9:20 am #

Thanks for the replies. I’ll look into the NR1 and NR6 then. Will be going for my first halloween night 🙂

  6. Ariff October 25, 2014 at 5:43 pm #

Is the lady playing the reporter on this day the same lady that played the realtor on Possessions last year? The reporter when I went on Thursday was a different one though.

    • Dejiki October 26, 2014 at 7:39 pm #

Yes, she was the realtor at the POSSESSIONS haunted house last year. She also performs other roles at the park during the day as well.

      • Ariff October 26, 2014 at 7:43 pm #

Ahhh, no wonder she looks familiar. Had a fun conversation (her being in character) with her outside Possessions last year while waiting to go in.
