Puss in Boots’ Giant Journey – ride construction update

The magic beanstalk has grown quite significantly over the past week, with another stretch of track being built. Let’s start from the Romeo Drive section.

Something’s different here. Or more like something is missing.

Last week, there was this odd section of the track that did not align. See that circled area?

The white track support piece has been removed this week.

For Puss in Boots’ Giant Journey, the ride will descend towards Waterworld’s queue area at the later half. Check out these track pieces:

Universal Studios Singapore - Park Update August 2014 - Puss in Boots' The Dance Off for the Magic Beans 1

Also, it looks like the Dance Off for the Magic Beans show may be held at Hook’s Knight Club, sharing the venue with the Donkey Live! attraction.

If that is true, then the “show” would be a projection in Hook’s Knight Club (just like Donkey Live), with a post-show Meet and Greet.

Update: Apparently not. It looks like this will be some sort of “street stage show” with the stage set within the facade of the Far Far Away buildings.

In a few weeks, Kitty Softpaws will join Puss in Boots as popular Meet and Greet characters at Far Far Away.

Meanwhile, if you’re thinking of stocking up souvenirs for the new ride opening at USS, check out this special Puss in Boots section at Fairy Godmother’s Potion Shop:

Battlestar Galactica (BSG) roller coaster – repair update

UPDATE 15/08: BSG will reopen by end of 2014

According to local papers Lianhe Zaobao, Battlestar Galactica: HUMAN vs Cylon is ready to be reopened by the end of the year. The news article cites Genting’s financial report as its source and I have verified this piece of news.

More details will be announced by the park in a few weeks.

The scaffolds came and went. Some people have thought that the park has done nothing to the tracks and that the “repair works” were cosmetic.

Well… we could all look closer. The park has done significant modifications at many sections, and also added these boxes – possibly trim brakes – at some sections where BSG HUMAN (Red track) is known to have high G-forces.

And what’s happening here?

Look closer again.

Upgraded Lockers – now with fingerprint scanners

The hassle of entering personal details (birthdate and favourite colour) to use the park’s lockers may soon be a thing of the past.

Check out these fingerprint scanners have been installed at some locker access panels. Now, right after selecting “Rent Locker”, guests will just need to press their finger on the scanner twice.

Unlocking is just as easy, with a single touch on the scanner.

These “Touch ID” lockers are only rolled out at the locker zone beside the entrance of Revenge of the Mummy. A technical trial, perhaps. From my observation, this has reduced much of the queue and crowd at this cramped locker room.

Halloween Horror Nights 4 (HHN4) – Minister of Evil invades the park

After that fateful evening, Jonah Goodwill, the Minister of Evil is slowly spreading his demonic grip over Universal Studios Singapore. Beware of his haunting gaze, which can now be seen at many places.

Universal Studios Singapore - Park Update August 2014 - Monster Rock Marquee

IMPORTANT!! FINAL SHOW DATE CHANGED

Monster Rock will be ending its run this month, with last shows on 31st August. While official information released last month stated that the last day is on 31st August, the park website now states that the final day is the 30th. Please let your friends know if you’re intending to catch the show on the 31st. The website information has been amended. Monster Rock will end its run on 31st August 2014.

And in case you missed last month’s update. Hi Dejiki.

Did you went on Saturday or Sunday for this update? 😀

Anyway thanks for the August update 😀

With the Monster Rock show and (presumably) the Far Far Away Versarchery window going, any word on what’s to happen with the statues of Wolfman, Bride of Frankenstein, Dracula and Anck Su Namun outside Pantages, and the Shrek Princesses in FFA?

  4. Kok Chung WAN August 5, 2014 at 10:12 pm #

Will the Monster Rock show will be back to Pantages Hollywood after HHN4 live show? Cause I’ll want o watch it again!!

  5. Gilaone August 5, 2014 at 10:18 pm #

Oh I will miss the Monster Rock Show. I was hoping they will update with new songs but didn’t expect it to be withdrawn entirely. What a shame. Dejiki, any idea if the new Sesame’s Street show will be a temp arrangement or a perm one?

One less reason to go USS after Monster Rock Show is gone 🙁

    • Zezima August 6, 2014 at 8:41 am #

      Hey there! Don’t be disappointed!

Monster Rock show is gone. However, there is one new park content to compensate this:

Puss In Boots Zone – Coming Soon!

      – New Stage Show (Starting next month September)
      – New Roller Coaster Ride (Estimated end of this year 2014)

There is still a reason to visit USS after all 😀

I thought the Puss in Boots attractions are still in Far Far Away?

        • Zezima August 17, 2014 at 11:00 pm #

Not sure if they name it new zone or still in the same zone in far far away.

I think I would called it Far Far Away “Expansion”. Still, It is located next to Far Far Away.

Well, when it launches, we shall see how it was named on the park map 🙂

          • Dejiki August 24, 2014 at 7:47 pm #

It’ll be an extension of Far Far Away’s Romeo Drive. It’s not that.. far away 😉

The “Milk Bar” stage construction for Puss In Boots new stage show has been completed!

Looking forward to 6th September on Saturday! I have my cards (used for photo taking) ready for them! 😀

    • Dejiki August 29, 2014 at 2:17 pm #

I’m looking forward to it too! I’ll be there to take photos of guests at the attraction – so who knows, you might be in the next update 😉

  9. Zezima August 29, 2014 at 3:04 pm #

Uh-oh. Looks like most likely I will be exposed since I am going for all 3 sessions on Saturdays and Sundays haha! Time to take action: My jungle hat must always be on at all times! 😀

Yea the mascot actors and their escorts know me quite well already, since i meet them every weekends, every sessions 😀

Also my photo taking cards are ready, with the USS Logo and their names printed “Puss In Boots & Kitty Softpaws” The names are a little bit small though. So I may have to re-queue to get perfect shots. I have a total of 5 sets of cards double sided for photo taking sessions 😀
